Also don't forget that days are much longer during the summer, which means the sun is out for a longer period of time, not to mention that sun rays are significantly stronger too. And that also contributes to the killing of viruses.

I'm not saying this virus will definitely go away by summer, but I don't think it's going to be as bad. I think the cold dry weather is helping this virus live longer and that's why it's spreading like crazy in places like NY where it's still very cold.

It's been 65 the last 3 days. That's not remotely "very cold."

I hate my county executive. He just passed a new ruling that effective tomorrow you can only go get groceries on days that end in an odd number if you were born in an odd numbered year, and even numbered days if you were born in an even numbered year.

Our county has amongst the fewest number of cases in the entire state as is, so I don’t see why this latest measure is needed, or how it’s going to be enforced.

While hate crimes against Asians continue to happen in NYC, apparently most of our cases actually originated in Europe...

Most NYC Covid-19 Cases Came From Europe, Genome Researchers Say
Quote:
The explosion of Covid-19 cases in the New York City area resulted largely from infected patients who flew in from Europe, genome scientists say.

Researchers at NYU Langone Health said they’ve analyzed 75 samples from patients who were diagnosed with Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, at New York-area hospitals last month.

About two-thirds of the samples appear to have European origins, said Adriana Heguy, director of the Genome Technology Center at the medical center. The virus appears to have been imported to New York from the U.K. and several European countries, including France, Austria and the Netherlands, she said.

So we are still a nation of exporters after all

(sorry for the bad taste joke but given the wreck of our economy it really is about the only thing we've got left, if I didn't laugh I'd cry)

It's happened, it's everywhere...thousands of people are dying a day, do your best Mean Girls impersonation AFTER we have this thing under control and have returned to some kind of whatever the new normal is going to be.

It's not achieving anything or helping anyone!
The economy is getting decimated and so are tens of thousands of human lives. You better bet heads are going to roll after this is all over. People always want somebody to blame. Sometimes, it's not justified. Here, it is.

The fact is (NOTE: --not political--) everything from grocery chains to shops to government agencies, mayors, governors, etc. have been scrambling like chickens with their heads cut off, with no actual plan, even though experts have been warning us for years that we're not prepared for something like this. There have been countries that have managed to keep things in control, and those are the countries that had a plan, had 40+ beds per citizen in their hospitals instead of 1 or 2, etc.

Instead, billions of our dollars are going into things none of us want or need, while ignoring things like having an emergency plan in place in case of a pandemic. People are dying because we weren't prepared for an outbreak like this, but we should have been.

And honestly, if China did indeed trigger this whole thing off by trying to keep this a secret as long as possible, then they rightly should be sanctioned seriously after this is all over. We know they tried to silence the scientist who leaked the information to the world. Their irresponsible handling may have been what led to this global outbreak. If they find this is the case, absolutely people should answer for it. No matter what it may not have been contained, but it might have given us all more time to prepare (or ignore it longer).

Sorry to be graphic, but I really don't understand how other peoples' bowels work, why are they taking 14 dumps a day? I maybe considered a "Home Shitter", but I master my own BMs. Once a day, three sheets a day...

And considering the states of most public bathrooms, I'm not sure people even use toilet paper, they don't seem to understand bowl-dynamics, hand-washing practices or simple flushing techniques.
Apparently you haven't heard of this thing called Crohn's disease?

Also, stress can trigger IBS.

Agree with every single thing you said, but this is not the time for blame, especially in the manner it is being done atm. Get the job done and then do it.

LOL

I have IBS and it's a nightmare!

However it has been great since all this happened and I don't have to leave the house. Obviously the fear of shitting myself in the street is far greater than my fear of contracting the Coronavirus

Well I agree we should be concerned with pulling out of this first, then worrying about all that later. Right now, we should acting together as one to survive this. Sadly, while many of us are trying very hard, many are not, and many are indeed sidetracked with the wrong agendas.

My aunt's best friend suffered from IBS (or maybe Crohn's and they didn't know it), and he very seldom left his apartment due to his concerns over getting stuck out in public with an "incident". It really did rule his life. This was back in the 90's. I'm not sure what kind of treatments were available back then.

Crohn's disease is fairly common and can certainly ruin your life. At the very least it requires having a healthy supply of bathroom tissue. It also leaves your immune system weaker than it should be.
