I actually haven't been out much the last few days, mostly just in my neighborhood which doesn't seem to different. I hear there's perhaps a little less people on the subway, but it can still get very crowded, which really can't be helped with millions having no choice but to commute to work and such.

Always washing your hands is always the best solution. But agreed with some others hand sanitizers are still a must for certain places that you go to.

I plan to go to the movies when Quiet Place 2 comes out and I will be taking some with me..

If you don't have any and are lucky enough to get your hands on some Isopropyl alcohol & aloe vera then you can make your own hand sanitizer. Alcohol will be sold out everywhere online so finding it in stores will be a coin flip.

I'm in NYC. There's a noticeable dip in traffic, both human and machine, but the majority of those of us out here are going about our business. No masks or space outfits (yet). I don't know if it's resiliency, indifference or ignorance but there's a surprising lack of fear on the part of the general public by the looks of it (in these parts). I'm using nitrile gloves in the wild but I seem to be about the only one save for one or two others every now and then. Everyone here is living their lives as usual. Good for us.

This is definitely having a major widespread impact. Biden & Sanders cancelled appearances in Cleveland, the NCAA has banned fans from attending the Mac Tournament, Cleveland has cancelled it's St. Patrick's Day Parade & universities are cancelling some face-to-face classes & replacing them with online classes. This morning, Brian Windhorst reported this as well:

In the grand scheme of things, there's just 46 people diagnosed with it in a city of 8 million. It's just the amount of people who may be carrying it, and spreading it which is the biggest concern. They really need to be testing thousands of people a day, it's the only way to slow down the spread. The CDC has dropped the ball completely in this regard.

I really want to go to the movies at Times Square (their Dolby Cinema to be specific) but I don't feel like it'd be a good idea. I fear I'll miss out on seeing several movies I really want to see including Onward, Mulan, and A Quiet Place Part II.

The problem for me in particular is I live and take care of someone who is more at risk than most, over 65, with cancer, diabetes, and other ailments. So I have less personal concern about whether I got it, but if I did, it would be almost inevitable that I spread it to them, which I fear would be a death sentence.

Why are the majority of deaths in Washington?

Any guesses on who will be the last state to get it? My guess the other day was New Mexico, but they just confirmed it in that state.

Wyoming is my next guess.

Cause it got into a nursing home there.

Nursing homes should not be taking any visitors anymore.

lack of fear is probably because workforce (20-50s) are pretty low risk?

Dunno. There's that guy who's 32 and appeared to be in good health and now can't breathe or talk (health care worker).

Yeah, he sounds really bad, and I hope he pulls through.. Concerning that he believes he got in while at conference at Times Square (Westin Hotel)

I'd stay away from Times Square. There was a photo online this morning (from the NY Post) of a deserted Subway mezzanine in Times Sq. Considering it's the crossroads of the world as they say it's the last place I'd go right now.

E3 was doomed from the start. This virus just gave them a better reason to go ahead and cancel it.

My first thought would be Wyoming but Yellowstone receives a ton of international tourists, or at least they did before the outbreak.

Maybe Montana then?

New Mexico would have been safe if a few 60-70 year-olds didn't go to Egypt

The 1st death from Coronavirus has now been recorded in The Republic of Ireland.

https://www.rte.ie/news/2020/0311/11...rris-covid-19/

She was an elderly woman who had an underlying health condition.

She was admitted into a hospital in Dublin 3 days ago. She is the very first person to die in Ireland today from Covid 19.

The number of cases in the ROI has now hit 34. Northern Ireland has 18 cases.

Separately; Trinity College Dublin has cancelled all lectures, closed all exhibitions like The Book of Kells, and smaller classes to deal with Covid 19. The closure was placed above the advice of Ireland's Department of Health which stated that classes should be held as normal. Up until recently; Trinity College had found a suspected case of Coronavirus among an individual discovered last week.

They felt that it was the right call to make at this point from looking at official health advice from the Health Service Executive & WHO.

I have advance tickets to A Quiet Place II, as well as a couple stage shows, in the next few weeks. Am seriously considering cancelling everything at this point.

I'm okay with the whole washing hands/not touching face/etc. thing -- but I keep thinking about all the times in the past that someone seated near me in a theater has coughed or sniffled their way through a show. That's bad enough when we're talking about the common cold, but this could be so much worse.
