Two years before the novel coronavirus pandemic upended the world, U.S. Embassy officials visited a Chinese research facility in the city of Wuhan several times and sent two official warnings back to Washington about inadequate safety at the lab, which was conducting risky studies on coronaviruses from bats. The cables have fueled discussions inside the U.S. government about whether this or another Wuhan lab was the source of the virus — even though conclusive proof has yet to emerge.

Damn! I just got a call from my mom that a good friend of the family died from the Coronavirus. She got it from her husband who originally got it at his job, but the husband is recovering at home. They have a daughter and son (both adults living at home). The daughter has it and is at home sick as well. The son was the only one that miraculously ended up testing negative, so he had to pack up temporarily and live with a friend until his family gets better.
I haven't seen them in years, so we haven't been in contact recently with them, but it's so scary since these people are very close friends of the family. This virus is starting to get closer and closer to my family now and it's disturbing. Seriously, this is really bad! |

First is that we may never find patient zero. Ebola its easy to find patient zero because they're flat on their back dead and anyone in close proximity got it. This type of coronavirus? Patient zero could have easily been a super spreader who didn't even go to the hospital, a young or healthy person who had what felt like the flu and gave it to hundreds. Second is that this thing could have easily toppled China's ruling party from within. Had the entire country been in the situation of Wuhan, I'm not sure any amount of control over the populace would have worked. Flipped over cars on fire, mass demonstrations even in the face of imprisonment, etc. (although you wouldn't have the scale of armed social conflict that could theoretically be reached in an armed country like the USA.) |

Can someone explain those numbers ...
¤ https://ncov2019.live/data They are higher than the other data websites, and usually it's a source that I like. I believe it was created by a young man from Washington State. • https://ncov2019.live/about Normally the numbers are always in line with the other sites, even more updated so it's normal to see hundred or two more from his site. But today we are talking roughly 4,000 deaths higher (difference). I also know that several people who died are not counted for reasons like not infected, and outside @ their homes. Anyway today it was a tremendously sad day in the world, and particularly in the USA. For Canada it was our worst. About two weeks ago I said to my sis on April 15...1,000 deaths in Canada. I'd much rather count movie box office revenues; there are none...zero. 'Dune' 2020 (Denis Villeneuve) is set to open on December 18, I have zero clue where we all will be @ that time. And if the film continues to be in production ... • https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_(2020_film) This Coronavirus is so very very hard on us all, and on all life's aspects. Watching a film is not the same today than it was say last year; the impact is very different. Our vision is different...the way the film registers in our brain and emotionally. Kind of difficult to argue with that. Perhaps if our youth got back to focusing on education instead of the latest comic book movies or which celebrity said what about another celeb. Maybe if they had the same passion about towards studies as they do about music and sports. Then again, it's not like our schools, k-college, are teaching what is needed for basic knowledge. Can't fault kids and young adults, really.

In Canada (38 million people) we are slightly worst. I don't know what the near future has in reserve for regions not doing bad right now. I try to remain realistic and understand that the time table is different for each region. It's not the best positive outlook, and neither Corona is with the world. |

But you are right, we live in a universal world of fast and mass travelling. So we are adapting right now...culture shock. Our lives will never be the same, our future is taking a different path. |
