They have great spinach dip and strawberry lemonade. My friend loves their wonton tacos and I love their three cheese chicken penne pasta.

And guess which 2 items aren't available on their limited COVID-19 takeout menu?

We’ve had a second person test positive at the building I work at. Starting Monday we are going to be given temperature checks before being allowed inside.

It's pretty evident that the Coronavirus is worse than the flu. People tell me that more people die of the flu than the Coronavirus, but I personally don't know anyone that has died from the flu. However, I already personally know one person that died of the Coronavirus and I have a bad feeling there's more to be expected.

So the next person that says the flu is worse, I will get very angry with that person!

Do they publish weekly flu death figures? in the UK we're losing around 1,000 people a day to Crisis, I wonder what the flu figures (I'd imagine they're all non-existent with social distancing and lock-downs) are?

Also I know this is anecdotal, but is it common for US citizens to be hospitalized during flu season? I've seen a few fictional things lately where that has been the case.

In the UK I can't ever remember large groups being hospitalized during flu season.

i dont think anyone is saying that anymore.

as of now, covid-19 is about 2-5 times deadlier than the flu and that number will surely rise as the death numbers increase.

interesting question though, is how many deaths being listed as covid due to covid like symptoms are actually influenza deaths? if they arent testing for covid, are they testing for influenza? guess we'll know if the infleunza numbers are extremely off in comparison to years past.

That's irrelevant. It's clearly not something that is widespread (yet) but should be. I'm sure it's just something that the owner of the grocery store instituted.

What I don't understand is that the Swine Flu pandemic back in 2009 was pretty bad, but we never shutdown the economy or anything. But we are doing that now and the Coronavirus spreading light years quicker and it's out of control. So, what the F is going on? You'd think we were able to somewhat control the Swine Flu and get through it, so I don't understand why we are struggling with the Coronavirus outbreak! Yes, both aren't the same virus, but both are deadly and highly contagious.

A big problem is people simply aren't listening. Either they don't care enough to or they don't know. It's not going to slow down until there's a vaccine because idiots are still doing whatever they want, see jackwagon at the store yesterday who HAD to get his beverage from the fridge that was right behind me instead of picking a different fridge.

H1N1 (Swine Flu) is far less contagious, and far less deadly than COVID-19. It also has a much shorter incubation period, and likely didn't have much if any asymptomatic transmission compared to this new virus. That makes a huge difference in the severity, and spread of it. COVID-19 also affects the most vulnerable populations, while H1N1 was much more prevalent in younger people. Many people already had some immunity to it too because of past viruses, unlike this new one. Vaccines were also made and distributed extremely fast (compared to typical vaccine timeable) saving tons of lives.

its becuase covid is much deadlier. while 60.8 MILLION cases were reported in the US alone, there were only 12,469 deaths due to H1N1

[Show spoiler]The H1N1 caused deaths of around 12,469 in the United States. According to the CDC, between 151,700 and 575,400 people succumbed to death during the first year of the virus circulation across the entire world. Patients aged 65 years and below made up more than 80% of all H1N1 virus-related deaths. Even with a population of 38% of the entire world's population, 51% of the deaths were reported from Africa and Southeast Asia.

I have. My statement was that this doesn't kill ONLY older people which is what many people were believing earlier. No one is safe after contracting it. If you are healthy and younger, your odds of dying is lower but it doesn't mean it is zero.

There are many stories floating around of people who had no underlying conditions, healthy, young and have died from it.

those stories of younger people with no known underlying conditions, i would say those arent "many" at all. there of course are cases of it but in comparison to the overall numbers, its a fraction of a fraction, well under 1%.

Pachter: Movie Theaters Can Profit on 20% Capacity; Industry to Lose $2.25 Billion in 2020

Quote:
With movie theaters worldwide shuttered due to the coronavirus, domestic exhibitors in the second quarter are expected to lose upwards of 92% of their revenue in current fiscal quarter compared to the previous-year period, according to Michael Pachter, media analyst with Wedbush Securities in Los Angeles. The industry is projected to lose $2.25 billion in 2020.

The analyst contends the industry is facing a “perfect storm” of challenges that render it a sitting duck without some kind of government assistance. Buy how essential movie theaters are in a world of digital distribution and streaming remains to be seen.

“Those screens that open as early as June will likely show classic tent-poles at a discount to drive attendance,” Pachter wrote in an April 15 note.
Quote:
The analyst contends that when theaters re-open and social distancing seating is mandated, exhibitors could still be profitable with theatre utilization as low as 20% to 30%.

Was talking to a friend this morning. Good friend of the family went into the hospital with a horrendous migraine. 48 years old. Tall. Strong. And dead.

Is 48 young? No. But is it old? Also no.
