but youre not understanding one very important piece of the puzzle, at least here in the states, if i call my doctor, explain my symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, i will be instructed to self quarantine at home. a test is irrelevant to my livelihood. instructions will then be to call back if symptoms worsen or if you fear for your life, you will then be told to go to the hospital.

not sure what theyre doing in the UK but even becuase you have a positive test, that doesnt mean youre going to get any different treatment, at first, other than to stay home and self medicate.

We are both saying the same thing

My point is is that testing people who aren't very sick is a complete waste of time and test kits. If only 1% of the people who get it are dying, then all these tests on random people who sneeze occasionally just so they can say they are testing this many people a day is pointless. We are never going to know the full extent of the people who have had it until this is all over.

I think I've had it, but there is still no accurate test that'll tell me if I have had it or not so I will probably never know.

I deliver car needs as my day job, and people are either bored and they keep hearing everything will be fine and dandy on May 1st, by you know who, so they are coming out in droves to get their cars fixed right now. One customer told me someone said he might not have money for rent, but he just needed to get out of his home and spend some money anyways.

Gulp.

I can say that after a few weeks of lower hours, I was working OT every single day this week again. Lots of people are spending that $1200 on new tires of all things.

And my PT job at FedEx...it's probably gonna get to the point of busy when we might not be able to meet the demand in some areas. It's worse than Christmas time. :/

Of course we won't. CDC, WHO and every country are lying about their counts.

California's top cop defends extraordinary virus shutdowns

Quote:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — What would normally be broad constitutional protections for freedoms of assembly, religion — even buying guns — have their limits when they endanger others during the coronavirus pandemic, California’s top law enforcement officer said in an interview.

The state has been sued over all three during its shutdown as government officials pick winners and losers in deciding which businesses and activities can operate and which can't.

But in an interview with The Associated Press Thursday, Attorney General Xavier Becerra said officials have broad authority to do what they think is necessary to slow the spread during the virus pandemic, even if that trumps normal fundamental freedoms.

“The Constitution remains in place,” Becerra said. “The Constitution — U.S. and our state constitution — has provisions in it that address emergencies like this. And so I don’t think there’s any doubt that for the protection of people’s not just their health but their lives, our government must take actions which protect our communities and the individuals in those communities.”

Mainly due to the fact that it's not exercise and should only be used for essential travel, food, essential work and medical supplies.

We have to assume that the infrastructure for urban, suburban and highway travel has decreased as well.

I know you don't want to mention safety concerns, but people really do get "snow blind" when driving alone, it's not uncommon for people to lose concentration because there's so little traffic. There's also the case of people not seeing any traffic deciding that they've got free reign, my friend works auto-parts delivery and he's seen people just running reds and sweeping across oncoming lanes thinking they can do whatever they want.

If you (not you you) get in a crash when you're joyriding, there's a good chance you've risked your life and first responder lives and possibly taken lives of others because emergency services should be with them, not you.

The exercise option is basically there to placate people, if we abuse it, we will eventually lose it.

Judge denies Legacy Church's request to throw out governor's order

Quote:
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- A judge rejected Legacy Church's request to throw out the governor's ban on mass gatherings in places of worship.

On the day before Easter, the governor added places of worship to her Emergency Health Order, which bans gatherings of groups of five or more people.

In the federal lawsuit, Legacy argued that it takes more than five people to put on a service.

The state pointed out that other churches were able to abide by the order, and added that Legacy Church does not have the right to expose the community to possible disease.

People already sick. There are plenty of stories on people that get it and don't even feel sick, or feel very little symptoms. Not all is doom and gloom out there.

I have never once seen the media claiming all the over the top things people claiming they are. They're reporting on things happening, good and bad. If you just see the bad, maybe you need to change the channel?

I probably wouldn't either. Heck, I took a 17 day vacation last fall and only went out to get food....just watched a ton of movies and sat inside in the air for the most part.

Sadly, I have two jobs that list me as essential, so my life hasn't changed one bit. Minus the movie aspect....I have no newer titles from the library coming to me, although Wisconsin is now allowing Curbside Pickup...if they choose to reopen, and no movie theater trips, so I've just been watching my some 640 unwatched titles I have built up over the years....probably a good thing to force me to start watching them.

That’s what I’ve been doing this month. Took a 30 day medical leave off from Fed Ex since I had asthma and leukemia. Just been watching a lot of movies and relaxing.

Death rate in Canada, is 4%.

Ya, ya, that's a skewed stat as so many are asymptomatic etc.

But still using the same methodology everyone's used from Day 1, number of infections compared to number of deaths.

We talked about Remdesivir way back on March 4 - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post17404003

And last night, Stat News reported on preliminary data about this drug -
https://www.statnews.com/2020/04/16/...-to-treatment/

^ which merits cautious optimism requiring further investigation (since the study lacks a control arm) and is certainly not as rigorous as this adaptive, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial - https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04280705

Despite the above cautious optimism caveat, that has not stopped people from speculating - https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/16/gile...y-results.html

Full disclosure:
My sister-in-law in Chicago who acquired COVID-19 and was placed on a vent (now extubated and out of ICU but still in hospital on O2 via nasal cannula (5L/min) was administered Remdesivir.
