Yeah, I believe Cuomo announced something like that a couple of days ago. That's why it's gotten so bad over here.

Well hopefully they caught it in time for them to adjust the vaccine if need be.

I feel they are more worried that it could mutate further or more quickly. Outpacing the vaccine development. The initial assumption was COVID was stable and wouldn't change. It mutated quicker than most scientists anticipated.

I wonder if COVID will end up like the flu where it changes year to year and we have to get shots yearly.

Not sure, they mentioned that in the article saying that they hope it doesn't and that is stabilizes so they don't have to make new vaccines. I hope that it doesn't and we can all just get one vaccine that will hold us over for a bit.

How so? This is the same strain that has been dominating the U.S. and Europe. This has been known for months. Probably why China has been able to get it under control easier, since the original strain there is less contagious.

Yeah and that finally answered the question I've been asking for a long time about why China was able control the spread over there but we couldn't. Now I know why!

Having said that, I really feel that China needs to pay for this. What they caused around the globe is so severe that we can't be forgiving about this!

This whole thing feels surreal, like we're all in some disaster movie.

So would South Korea and Hong Kong or Taiwan have the same strain as China, or this more infectious one that is wreaking havoc in the Western hemisphere?

Seriously, this could easily be stopped right here and right now if everyone would just stay at home and only go out for essential purposes.... and when I say, "essential", I don't mean sunbathing, sitting on a park bench or playing in the park.

Think about it... all we need is two weeks of proper behavior from EVERYONE. Just two weeks! If everyone could do that, this can be over before you know it. But of course, there's always people who don't want to do their part. If you can't even get people to do something as simple as wearing a mask, then no way can you get people to stay home. It's really sad that government has to force places like beaches and parks to close. The government shouldn't have to enforce these things; human beings should have enough common sense to not do it! Very frustrating world we live in and that's why we're in this mess today.

There are zero guarantees of that. It's been TWO MONTHS of lockdowns, and we haven't made any real progress. Even if 100% of the ENTIRE WORLD POPULATION stayed inside for two weeks, it's not gonna make any of this go away.

I've heard chatter about "making China pay" but nobody really says how.

They own a lot of the US in treasury bills so money doesn't mean anything. They control a lot of manufacturing since the rest of the world cares more about profits than standards. Sanctions just end up hurting Americans. Military action is not realistic. Overthrowing their regime is a possibility, but I'm not sure Americans want even more competition from a growing Chinese middle class.

That's the thing, no one is following protocol. Like I said, there were people sunbathing in Central Park over the weekend! What kind of a lockdown is that? This thing hasn't gone away because people aren't staying inside.

And I wouldn't say we haven't made real progress. New cases are starting to decline, thankfully, and that's mainly because there are some people that are actually doing what they're supposed to by staying indoors and wearing masks when going outside for essential purposes.

The male patient from France was initially treated for pneumonia at a hospital in Paris. It turns out that the doctor who was treating him had said, via an interview, to local French media on Sunday that he had discovered traces of the virus in the man's frozen lab samples. This type of discovery makes it very much likely that Covid-19 was spreading around in Europe before it first hit Asia.

It also raises fears that a 2nd wave of the virus could hit Europe once again very soon.

https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/...avirus-europe/

With Europe trying to wind down it's restrictions of the virus for the past while. This type of news does come as a huge blow in trying to mitigate the virus. Although we do not know yet how severe the so-called 2nd wave of Covid-19 is until the spread of the virus is officially beginning to increase in huge numbers once again within our health services across the continent & for the rest of the world. Health authorities in other countries, including the WHO, now have to take stock of this news by investigating how this virus had occurred in France exactly 1 month before it had made it's destructive impact in China.
pretty sure the first record of this dates back to November in China...so no, it didnt originate in Europe.

pull manufacturing, thats how. but like you mentioned, thats never gonna happen as it inflates our costs. and tariffs certainly work no matter what they try and tell you. it affects us at home as well, but dont be fooled into thinking its not hurting them more than its hurting us.

I have to correct you. You say if everyone COULD do that. The correct terminology is if everyone would do that. Everyone is capable of staying home. They're making the choice not to.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter anyway. As Monterey Jack stated, staying home won't make a difference. No progress has been made and staying home is pointless.

Ok everyone, feel free go outside and party on!

"Staying at home" prevents you from bumping into someone who IS infected - but then of course - they aren't following the rules either ... it's a no-win situation.
