My biggest worry is the second wave. I'm at work, and we have restrictions. Once everything opens up I doubt companies will be willing to shut things down again.

Especially if it hits later in the year.

Companies won't have a choice when their work force is completely sick.

If anyone needs gloves, and doesn't mind orange, these are available to order, and I can vouch for their quality. I got them a month or two prior in black in XL, because apparently they run a little small, but I have pretty big hands too. If that applies to you too, then perhaps wait for XL to come back in stock.

Large: https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonComme...8874158&sr=8-2

Medium: https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonComme...8874305&sr=8-3

Large (light blue color) (5mil instead of 6): https://smile.amazon.com/AmazonComme...8874332&sr=8-1

edit XL in black just became available to order, but 5 mil instead of 6 (I got 6 the first time, but I'm sure these are still fine):

Don't worry. Bruceames said in one of his posts that the second wave will be less severe. I disagree. But you know how it is.... my opinion is always wrong and everyone else is right. So it's all good!

Things just got a bit too close to home for comfort today for my girlfriend.

She's been working from home for over a month now, but each Friday she's had to report to the office in the morning to gather paperwork and stuff. Well she just got an email today saying that effective immediately nobody is to report to the office as they believe the office may have been contaminated with the virus. They said it's being professionally cleaned daily to medical grade standards, but until further notice, nobody is to return.

Only 16 people have been reporting to the office on Fridays, for a few hours. Yet out of that 16 people, one of them must have come down with COVID-19, otherwise they wouldn't have any reason to suspect the office was contaminated or there's risk of exposure. They didn't give any further details.

My girlfriend stays home all week and doesn't even go shopping with me like usual. She goes exactly 2 places each week - to the office on Friday for a few hours in the morning, then over to my place for the weekends, where we stay inside 100% of the time. I stay home for the entire week and go out only once per week for groceries (wearing a cloth mask). Her family stays home the entire week other than groceries and a walk (her dad wears a mask and he's the only one that goes to the store). My girlfriend did stop by the drug store to pick up a monthly prescription the other day. Other than that, we're all almost always home.

Yet it shows how this can spread so easily. That once a week she goes to the office may have exposed her, which could have then exposed her family to it too (they live together), and me, even though all of us have been isolating other than a trip to the grocery store.

It's been 6 days since she was in the office, and she hasn't shown any symptoms yet. She may have a somewhat weakened immune system, as she has a condition that is considered an auto-immune disease, though she's generally pretty healthy and doesn't get sick very often, not even a cold. But COVID-19 can take anywhere from a few days to 11-12 days to show symptoms, or she could be asymptomatic. Nothing we can do other than wait and see I guess. I don't think she would qualify as being able to get a test, as she isn't showing any signs. Does being exposed to a contaminated workplace qualify to get a test?

Anybody who thinks this will not make a second round is fooling themselves. We're not even done with the first round yet.

America doing what we do. Screwballs.

So instead of simply going home without McDonald's food, he's now going to be charged (hopefully) with attempted murder. Brilliant!

Real friends would find a way to stay in touch. Deactivating FB doesn't stop Messenger functionality if that's your only way of contacting people.
Sadly it's not that easy for some people. Some family members do use FB to share photos from events, etc, so other family members far apart can follow along. I hate FB but some people do rely on it to keep in touch like that. You can't just cut yourself off because if you do, you'll miss out on seeing photos, getting invitations, etc.

Many companies use social media now too for customer service, sadly. I'm into board games and some of those companies can be hard to reach for any issues you many have with components. One company I had to deal with has no email contact info at all posted on their site - just a FB link and Twitter link! I had to contact them through a board game forum.

Nowhere near 99% of people are social distancing. And it won't happen in the US. Too many people just don't care.

that should qualify to get a test, absolutely.

I'm in CT, and two employees were able to get tested, one without symptoms but has a family member which is high risk and may had been exposed by someone who came to their house (exposed person did not test postive, they were just worried since hes a fedex driver who is around so many people). the other was showing 1 symptom, cough, no fever, and was also able to get tested.

we told them both they are not allowed back to the office without getting tested and providing the results. both tested negative

regardless, the combination of someone testing positive in her workplace (trace contacting) as well as her being high risk herself, i would think if she calls her doctor, they will get her tested.

It depends, certainly YMMV.

I've found that I'm really looking forward to getting mailed photos. Or they'll get emailed or shared with me on Google Photos.

Instead of mass invites I get personal messages now, along with an opportunity to catch up.

Personally, it really narrows down my social circle to true friends I can invest my limited time in. It sucks, but part of growing up meant that really good friends can grow apart. It happens based on changing locations, jobs, interests. But you only have so much time in your life.

I get it, nobody likes sitting in their house all day watching the paint sparkle on the wall but it's better than spreading coronavirus or getting it yourself and spreading it to all the people you interact with.
But what do you suggest? Allowing police to start harassing or arresting everyone on the street? I would think twice before giving police the ok to get in people's faces just for going for a walk. There has already been reports of police overstepping, which should not be surprising frankly. There has to be a line somewhere.

People aren't criminals just because they go for a walk or swing by McDonald's.

A reminder of how some police interact with the public already:

More irresponsibility from media. They should be held accountable:

Fox News Host Calls on ‘Healthy People’ to ‘Have Some Courage’ and Get Infected With Coronavirus

Quote:
Fox News host Pete Hegseth, an informal Trump adviser who was once considered to run the Veterans Affairs administration, on Thursday called upon healthy Americans to “have some courage” and leave their homes to get infected by the coronavirus in order to help attain “herd immunity.”
Quote:
After warning that there was a “lot of misinformation” out there from “experts” about coronavirus, Hegseth—who proudly declared last year that he hadn’t washed his hands in 10 years—then said the public needs to get out and mingle.
Quote:
Epidemiologists from Johns Hopkins, meanwhile, have laid out just how deadly a push for herd immunity would be for the nation.

“To reach herd immunity for COVID-19, likely 70% or more of the population would need to be immune,” they wrote. “Without a vaccine, over 200 million Americans would have to get infected before we reach this threshold. Put another way, even if the current pace of the COVID-19 pandemic continues in the United States – with over 25,000 confirmed cases a day – it will be well into 2021 before we reach herd immunity. If current daily death rates continue, over half a million Americans would be dead from COVID-19 by that time.”

Just saying, is it worth the risk? What if you get coronavirus because you just had to go for a walk? Then you spread it to everyone you know before you find out and they spread it to all the people they know? Was that leg stretching really worth it?

The risk of catching the virus from a walk on a path is low. I don't walk anyways (I know I should).

I don't have any answers. But giving the police full authority to approach and harass anyone on the street who is minding their own business is not okay. I'm not comfortable with that. Too many chances for abuse and "misunderstandings".

Oh, I absolutely agree with this. No way to do this. I try, but as I said, yesterday, one guy came right up behind me in line, and even walking in the aisles, you're going to be getting closer than 6 feet to people as you pass by each other. More like 1-2 feet. Plus you're closer than 6 feet at the register.

I stopped by my bank after work today. Security guard at the entrance was offering hand sanitizer to all customers. I didn’t wear my mask because it is not required by governor’s order.

Yup why I think people need to minimize trips to the grocery store to essentials and as few trips a week as possible. Obviously perishables have to be replenished frequently but other than that, people should exercise good judgment as often as possible.
