As for subways... I haven't been in one in many years.

Our governor usually addresses the media about it today so I'm wondering if she's having second thoughts about re-opening New Mexico after the 15th.

Got my PPP application funded today. So that makes it a good day. Hopefully a lot more of the small businesses get it than they did last time, when the chain stores cleaned up most of it.

What businesses would be in the first wave? Here they're talking about clothing, sporting goods, flower shops and the like opening after the 15th, but only to curbside pickup. How is that going to help? People will want to go into the store and browse. Otherwise they'll just buy it from Amazon or the big box stores.

The city is anticipating by May 15, it will be able to initiate “phase one” of reopening the economy, which could allow 50% occupancy at restaurants, 20% occupancy for retailers. Gyms, salons, hotels and houses of worship will also likely be allowed open in some capacity, but it’s unclear exactly how how.

She was not happy earlier this week because the curve is going the wrong way. Don't blame her, people aren't social distancing.

I guess it depends on where you live and where you shop. Where I am, we shop at two stores and social distancing is easy because of the work that the stores have done to protect their staff and their customers. Both stores have strictly limited the number of people allowed in the store at one time. In addition, while waiting in line they have marks on the sidewalks six feet apart where you wait. Line ups inside are the same thing. They have staff telling you which line to go in and where to stand. All cashiers are behind plexiglass.

I've always been disgusted with how so many restaurants and fast food chains "clean" their tables. Seeing them take that wet rag out of a pale and quickly wipe the table down, I always felt the table had more bacteria on it after they "cleaned" it than before they wiped it down.

And most of the time at fast food places I'm lucky if I can find a table that doesn't have the crumbs from the past 5 visitors on it.

Nasty.

They have limited the number of people in the large grocery store near me, sure. They even announce over the intercom every hour how many people are currently in the store. Which is cool. And it wasn't very crowded at all the other day. But still, people get close enough passing by each other in those fairly narrow isles that it's well inside that 6 foot distance. One guy coughed just as he was passing me. Ugh. Really? You couldn't wait 5 more seconds to cough after you got by me? Sometimes you can't help it, but geez. And one guy was right behind me in line, practically hitting me with his cart, totally ignoring the lines.

My girlfriend has not been able to file her unemployment for going on week 3 come Sunday. She's unable to file as the system says she doesn't qualify. Her work-at-home hours were cut from 40 to 24. Others in her office are also unable to file. The system won't accept what they're putting in. She spoke to somebody over the phone from unemployment and was told she earns too much to qualify for unemployment which is absurd. Her boss said they should qualify. She previously was able to collect several years ago when she was temporarily put on work share.

Human resources said they're trying to switch them over to work share which should solve the issue, but it's been almost 2 weeks since they said that and still no news. They're aware nobody can collect and are working on it.

So she's missing her 16 hours per week in unemployment, plus the $600 stimulus per week. Next week if she doesn't get a payment she'll be missing 3 weeks' worth. Even if she finally gets a payment, I don't know if she'll be able to get those past $600 stimulus payments she's supposed to be getting. So far that's $1,200 in the past 2 weeks plus her missing hours (16 x 2). Will she be able to get those back stimulus payments once she's on work share? I don't think anybody knows at this point.

Meanwhile I still can't log into the "get my payment" system. No sign of a check. Is there an email for the IRS I can use to ask about my situation? They're not taking phone calls currently.

Horrible system all-around. I hear talk about weekly $600 stimulus payments for those on work share or unemployment, and they're talking about more rounds of stimulus checks, yet I haven't seen anything and my girlfriend can't seem to get anywhere with unemployment.
