Good, & hopefully the downward trend will continue. However, if what we're seeing with many people not physically distancing as the country reopens, I'm expecting spikes, increases & new clusters or even huge outbreaks in the future. I hope I'm wrong. For some overall perspective, here's some stats for you:

Total United States Population = 328.2 million
Total COVID-19 Tests Reported in the United States = 10,217,573 which is 3.1% of the total population.
Total Positive COVID-19 Tests Reported = 1,510,924 which is 14.7% of total tests.

Global Deaths = 312,381
United States Deaths = 88,836 which is 28.4% of worldwide deaths. WOW!!!
United States Death Rate per Positive Tests = 4.7% (4.7% of 328 million is 15,416,000. I'm not expecting this, especially considering future treatments & the possibility of a vaccine, just doing the math)

Total Cases Globally = 4,667,109
Total Cases in the United States = 1,471,674 which is 31.5% of worldwide cases. Again, WOW!!!

In 2017 there were 55,672 influenza/pneumonia related deaths (Source: CDC)
55,672 is 0.0169% of 328 million.

Question: With a lot of businesses having been reopened for weeks in some places & others reopening across the country now & in the coming weeks, are we currently transitioning from a mitigation phase to a "harm reduction" phase?

Oh I had a class in the fall that went from a D to an A because the professor retroactively accepted a late assignment at full credit that was due during Spring Break. Yikes.

I genuinely don't know how these morons are selling this to us tbh. Literally every other week since the beginning of the lockdowns, we get conflicting information and contradictions to what they advised or stated earlier.

I generally am a bit "meh" about certain things, but we're being spun a yarn on certain elements and another thing i find funny is how the narrative warps to suit week to week agendas.

Exclamation About masks ...

A certain type of surgical N95 mask will spread the virus farther ... (no good) ...
https://www.healthline.com/health-ne...covid19-spread

I sure didn't know that; now I know as I just learned some more.
Knowledge during a pandemic can help save lives ...

This is also another discovery; expiration of masks (stockpile) ...

We sure weren't prepared and we made several fatal mistakes.
Now we pay a very high price in face of a very vicious and invisible enemy.
We think we can have control over it but it's Corona that is having the upper hand over us and over our health and global economy, including North American economy (Canada, USA and Mexico).

Hey guys. I here to give you an new update about Covid-19 in Europe.

Both Ireland & Spain have hit a milestone this weekend with recording below 100 new cases of the virus each day for the 1st time in 2 months. Ireland was the first country out of the two to hit this milestone this weekend with 92 cases recorded on Saturday with 64 cases being recorded today.

In regards to testing; Ireland will carry out the remainder of testing on known contacts, including close contacts, of Covid-19 from tomorrow. Ireland's main health authority; The Health Service Executive, has said that it aim's to have 90% of those tests completed within 3 days.

Ireland is to implement it's 1st phase of it's roadmap of easing it's lockdown restrictions from tomorrow. Hardware stores, Garden centres & Bicycle repair stores will be allowed to reopen with strict limits on the number of customers that can be allowed in to browse it's stores. Construction sites & landscape gardeners can be allowed to return to work. Groups of no more than 4 people can be allowed to meet up outside people's homes as long they adhere to social distancing guidelines. The daily limit for people to exercise outdoors from their homes will remain unchanged at 5km since the 5th of May.

Catholic churches in Spain have begun to reopen to the public with strict social distancing guidelines in place for people attending mass. Churches are to place seats with a 1.5 metre distances between them while inside & outside the churches while public masses are taking place each day. In Italy; Pope Francis has said, on the eve of the centenary of the Birth of Pope John Paul II taking place tomorrow, that all Catholics must still adhere to social distancing inside Churches whilst Italy are easing their lockdowns.

In Germany; The Bundesliga has been told by a senior German politician from Bavaria, via an interview with a German Sports broadcaster, to implement new rules when players are scoring goals in the competition during the pandemic. Since yesterday; the return of The Bundesliga has seen players breaching basic hygiene protocols while players of the same team seen touching their hands while kissing & hugging each other as a form of celebration while a player scores a goal for the team when the matches are played behind closed doors.

Markus Soeder, a State minister for Bavaria, had said in an interview to German sports broadcaster Sport1 that "Football has an extreme function to be a role model, so we should stick to our instructions & pay attention to it next week. The German Football League (DFL) has said it did not sanction any players for not sticking to the guidelines at the weekend, but that could change once the next set of games are being played.

Yep, same here with me; a brand new decade full of great possibilities and newer resolutions all for the better. Instead we entered a new decade starting in hell on Earth.
And we ain't out of the woods for years to come, starting this Fall right after this Summer next month...June 21st.

We need a lot of masks (good masks) ...

Arrow Coronavirus deaths in Italy and US could be up to double the official counts, ...

...New research shows ...

I highly doubt it . . . that it is only in Italy and in the USA.
There is also China, Russia, UK, France, Brazil, Spain, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Canada, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Africa, Ireland, Germany, Saudi Arabia, etc., etc., etc.

Agreed.
Is this how it feels to be a Texan who wants Californians and New Yorkers to stay out of my local politics? Pretty wild.
All local governments will have some threshold in place, whereas if it is exceeded then things will get more restrictive. We have to learn to live with this, and accept its existence as the new norm.

Some places will be more risk averse than others and as a result will be more restrictive regarding freedom of movement and gatherings.

I think its pretty silly to worry about people using n95 masks with vents when we still have people wearing low quality homemade masks. They arent fitted properly and obviously vent around the sides so they obviously are not Superior in any way to a vented n95 and we also have tons of people taking the masks off and not wearing the masks all the time. I went into a dollar tree today and the cashier had his mask down to his lips and the customer had his mask on his forehead.

Personally I would rather have everyone wear masks with vents then what we currently have with most people taking the masks off constantly.
