These retail stores are already running with razor thin margins. They can't afford to give out gloves to every person who walks into a store or go through every book on display with a UV light.

Not a dumb question. I would. It can't hurt.

I always wash my hands after using gloves. It takes just a minute to do, and it can't hurt.

They actually say washing your hands too much can damage the skin.

Yeah they told me I had to wear gloves to recycle those glass bottles a while back. Then I threatened to leave and toss the bottles in a dumpster and the lady ran to their box to get me some gloves. I don't get it either.

I'm still trying to understand the concept of wearing gloves too. Maybe it helps keep you from touching your face because you're more aware of what you're doing with the gloves on? The gloves can still transmit the virus after you've touched objects so I don't get it.

Gloves are gross because once you get them contaminated, they're done and now you have contaminated waste you need to properly dispose of.

Well it sure can make your skin more dry and can lead to Eczema/dermatitis/itching. I've had problems with this lately. I'm using Cortizone-10 Intensive Healing Lotion which has helped. Definitely use lotion if you are washing your hands a lot (which you should be).

Personally, I'm less likely to touch my face if I'm wearing gloves. With ungloved hands that possibility happens a lot more on a sub-conscious level, but having gloves on just makes me more alert of that possibility. Gloves aren't mandatory (and shouldn't be), but as long as people are practicing proper safety precautions with them, I don't think it's a problem.

The only times I wear gloves at work is when I'm handing the garbage. All other times, I just make a point to wash/sanitize them at least two or three times per hour. I tried wearing gloves for an entire shift once, and my hands were fishbelly white and pruny by the end of the day.

Well for one, it's a good visual reminder not to touch your face... and two, if you do touch an infected surface, as long as you properly take off your gloves afterwards, you don't have to rely on hand washing alone to decontaminate yourself.

guess what we can do with his sorry. Let's put his apology in one hand and poop in the other, see which hand fills up first.

He owned up and apologized so he gets some credit from me. Plenty of people out there have no apologies.

Not a dumb question. This is a good summary article (main advantage is simply that gloves remind the wearer not to touch his/her face) as cross contamination of virus on latex gloves is readily possible - https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/hea...t-coronavirus/ Think about it, once a surgeon touches something outside the sterile field, his/her glasses, etc. he/she must be re-gloved by the scrub nurse in order to not contaminate the sterile field.

I’ll add a caveat to the above good housekeeping article in that latex gloves are an excellent idea if your hands are characterized by some sort of non-intact skin, be it a laceration, abrasion or cracked and dry skin, etc. When the barrier of the skin is broken, you are susceptible. If you fit into this category and need to wear gloves, and at the same time are finding it difficult to maintain a sufficient supply of them due to their popularity, then I think it would be possible to use hand sanitizer on them, a limited number of times, to be safe, then discard, based on this - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5700156/

I wonder, if testing gets so widely available, that an antibody test and/or regular test will be a required prerequisite for visiting certain places.

Another thing is, how willing are asymptomatic people to take the test (regular test, not antibodies)? Could the government make it a requirement? Can those from the contact tracing dept. force you to take it?

Are people going to have to show some kind of ID to prove they've gotten a test and tested negative? I don't think there's room in my wallet for another piece of plastic.
