Yeah they should've waited till after this weekend but they didn't, I will say have far less sympathy than you'd like for idiots who are doing this due to their inability to grasp the gravity of this situation.

I'm not one for calling for anarchy or anything but we need a safe way to open things up and advise people showing symptoms to remain in isolation till the symptoms fully abate and follow some kind of procedures to help not spread the virus if they're possibly asymptomatic.

Hell, even in the UK the PMs right hand guy is flouting the rules and claims its all above board. It wasn't and its hypocrisy. I don't want more deaths but you need to realise there's only so much to be done and keeping the healthy coralled isn't going to work for a long time till the end of the year

Omar Mohammad, a 17-year-old who skipped his own graduation from Spain Park High School in Hoover because of the pandemic, said people seem to have dropped their guard after state orders that loosened restrictions.

“I’ve seen people being like, `I can go get my nails done, so it can’t be too bad,’” he said.
And that's the problem. As soon as states give the ok to reopen, people are just going to go back to business as usual, with no concerns over the virus. They will think if the stores are open, the threat is over. People are idiots like that. There won't be any half-measures, like using caution, distancing, masks, wiping down carts, etc.

As hard as some of us are trying, many just won't care or put any effort into taking precautions. In the end, this virus will spread even more until we A) find a vaccine or B) get herd immunity (which will mean many more multiples of deaths first in the process). We're fighting a losing battle thanks to those that just won't put any effort into this.

Roughly half of the Twitter accounts pushing to 'reopen America' are bots, researchers found

Quote:
As the US begins to lift shutdown orders amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there's been a fierce argument online over the risks and benefits of reopening. New research suggests that bots have been dominating that debate.
Quote:
Carnegie Mellon University researchers analyzed over 200 million tweets discussing COVID-19 and related issues since January. Roughly half of the accounts discussing the virus - including 62% of the 1,000 accounts with the most influence - appear to be bots, the researchers said in a new report published this week.

I'm starting to look pretty wooly, but even if hairdressers opened in my area, I would not feel comfortable going right now. Of course I'm also mostly a hermit right now other than seeing my girlfriend and her sister, and shopping once a week.

I'm not going to worry too much about people not wearing masks outdoors where the risk is very low. As long as it's required in stores and people abide by it and stores enforce it, then that will be enough.

Yeah. I'm just seeing this on a news bulletin this evening. Dominic Cummings is some pure idiot to take part in this behaviour.

He is putting huge numbers of more people in great danger of spreading this virus to other people around him in the UK while he went on his 400km cycling run from his main home address from London to Durham. You just to have to think of the potential in how many more people in the UK population could be hit with this lethal virus if they weren't so aware of his movements in public today. The numbers of potential victims being in close contact from Dominic Cummings could be absolutely catastrophic for the UK's health service to manage properly. All this talk of flattening the curve from the British Government sounds like a complete joke. It's galling to hear that Boris Johnson, the British PM of all people, is giving Cummings his full support for this farce while Johnson had put numerous measures out to the British public of their recent plans to ease off on the lockdowns within England. It is absolutely disgraceful behaviour done by the both of them. They should rightfully hang their heads in shame for allowing this move to happen today.

Dominic Cummings should listen to the British public & resign immediately from his position as BJ's advisor in No.10 Downing St. It's because of this dangerous little stunt has made him look like more of an enemy towards the British public as he self-isolates at his summer home in Durham. He is an ignorant human being & he just doesn't care.

And the weather prospects in the UK is going to get warmer within the next while. This means that it will make the idea of doing the social distancing later on will become a complete disaster in the short term as there were pictures on the news today showing tons of people of all ages were seen sunbathing today at one beach in the UK. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen for anyone trying to maintain some sense of normality in the country. It just makes the suppression of the virus there to become delayed for that little while longer.

I just want to give another update about what is happening in Ireland & Spain as I went on my UK rant.

Ireland's PM Leo Varadkar has said at last night's cabinet meeting that he wants the 2m social distancing to remain unchanged as we go into the summer. There is a lot of pressure coming from constituents around the country & from TD's, including Irish government ministers, to call on the Taoiseach to have the 1m limit in place to be considered safe, while abiding to the WHO's official guidelines on social distancing. This move will allow Ireland's economy to open much sooner than what was planned in the government roadmap for easing the Irish lockdowns. The Restaurants Association of Ireland has said today that if the 1m limit was imposed across the Republic of Ireland; it would allow 90% of their restaurants to reopen for business. Ireland's CMO, Dr Tony Holohan, is still planning to have talks with government ministers later this week about reducing the social distancing limit down to 1m as it could become approved from official advice from NPHET in future.

For soccer fans; it was announced today by Spain's PM, Pedro Sanchez, that the LaLiga tournament in Spain is to have it matches resume behind closed doors from the 8th of June.

I would definitely go. If we both wear masks then the risk will be very low. Many hairdressers are hit very hard, especially the self employed, and they gotta eat and pay bills, like the millions sitting home making more money now than they did working.

They are different types of illnesses because the transmission & symptoms are completely different. Again, anyone that thinks that HIV & COVID-19 are similar needs to have their head examined.

You have a definite modus operandi here - anytime anyone states that HIV & COVID-19 shouldn't be compared, you say "You seem to be taking it personally". Actually, you're taking it personally that we're questioning you - that's what's happening here.

Again, not surprised that people are stupid enough to think that the two diseases are similar. If someone in a position of power told people that drinking a combination of gasoline & bleach will make them immune to the virus, a lot of people would probably be stupid enough to do this. Just like those 900+ Americans who drank poison Kool Aid In Jonestown back in 1978 because a psychotic scum-bag told them to. Obviously, not much has changed over the years. Idiots.

Personally i find the comparison moronic and the fact it comes from a Director of the WHO; even more reprehensible as such. For a start, HIV is passed to others in a very specific manner and not comparable at all to how Coronavirus is transmitted amongst the population.

Can you imagine saying to countries, "Hey, you just got to treat each other like you have HIV and you might pass it along". It's not only fundamentally flawed because of the effects both longer term and short term of HIV on the human body compared to what we know thus far about COVID-19 and the immunity or resilience of younger people to recover from it.
Agreed. Glad someone else on here understands the distinction.

Re Covid-19 and HIV, it’s not about the actual similarities / differences between the two. It’s about their impact on society. In Europe, North America and other countries, there hasn’t been such fear of a pandemic since HIV in the 80s.

You guys are hilarious with your inconsistency. You’d think you guys would be clamouring for haircuts and shaving your body to reduce transmission.

So, I think during the corona times if one needs dental work (as there are some issues which are ‘non-emergent’ but still should not be put off indefinitely) one should try to find an office like this -
