Well the thing is, the media is presenting it as if he is only person that has the right answers. So, in a nutshell, his guess is basically just as good as anyone else's. So maybe we need to hear the opinions from other health experts as well rather than turning only to him and treating what he says as gospel. Just sayin...

Dr. Fauci isn't the only expert giving advice & providing information in the media, just not true. There are numerous infectious disease doctors & directors of infectious disease departments providing info & sound advice. There are also opinions, facts, guidance, studies etc. readily available at your fingertips. You can access universities' medical departments & resources on their respective sites, like Columbia etc. The Lancet, Springer, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation also have easily accessible resources, & they're not the only ones, there are many more. Local news stations also usually provide more area specific information. We have world-renowned medical centers in Ohio, like the Cleveland Clinic & University Hospitals & some of their doctors/specialists appear on local news providing clear & concise information & wise advice. Just simply expand your information intake from various reliable & credible sources, it's really not difficult at all.

Yes, other health experts are giving advice, but the media is presenting it as if Fauci is the only one giving the "correct" advice.

Interesting (and sobering) article that says we're basically f**cked economically for the next decade.

I don't see it that way. When he appears do they say; "Here's Dr. Fauci, the only person that is capable of providing the correct advice." I haven't heard that. You said; "So maybe we need to hear the opinions from other health experts as well rather than turning only to him and treating what he says as gospel."

They also did not say "The coronavirus is so deadly that the world is going to end." But that is what they're implying.

That's what's great about the media. They are really good at putting ideas in people's heads without actually saying it explicitly.

All I'm saying is that we do hear from them.

I'm sure that if you start following other people, they'll be just as unreliable. However, they won't have the history and the knowledge of Fauci. Just sayin'...

I'm actually surprised most NYers are ok with Cuomo's decision to extend NYC's stay at home order for this long. All the jobs lost by keeping NYC closed for this long must be downright devastating for many people. I, personally, am not affected by this financially because I still have a job, but even I am cringing just imagining how bad this must be for some people. The permanent damage this could cause in unfathomable. There has to be some way we can start opening up NYC a little bit and keep people safe.

Oh yeah? Ideas? Cuz once people are back on the subways, it's "game over."

He's the director of NIAID & is one of the world's leading experts on infectious diseases, but he's not omnipresent as far as I know, so it's safe to say that he receives some of his information from someone else at times.

It's also game over if people don't have jobs. I'm not saying we should go full force on day one. But let's start opening up little by little, don't you think?

Hearing about a possible spike and second wave is downright scary and not worth the risk of re-opening. Because getting the spike up can happen almost instantaneously, but going downhill on that curve is extremely difficult.

This is all really interesting. And then people wonder why I complain about how I get unfairly treated. I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. I really need to know what you guys want from me...

Aaaaaaand that's what they're doing.

Aaaaaaand there are going to be LOTS of people out of jobs for a very long time. Unless we open everything up completely right now, that's the reality.

As someone who's dealing with that reality, you don't have to tell me about it. VERY few of my friends know when they're going back either, if ever. But, atm, no one knows what the economy is going to look like past August. So, we wait.

NYC hasn't even entered Phase 1 reopening. So no, we haven't opened squat yet. Only 4 of the 7 metrics have been met thus far. With the NYC population as big as it is, don't expect all 7 metrics to be met until August, the earliest. So, I expect another few more extensions from Cuomo.

They will starting next week, most likely. You also can't expect NYC to be treated similarly to Omaha, Nebraska.

Remember, once restaurants are given the go-ahead to open, it may not be financially feasible for them to do so. They'll have to do it with limited clientele and limited employees. Nothing will magically go back to the way it was.

Broadway will, most likely, be closed for the rest of 2020. That's a HUGE draw for visitors.

We just have to wait and see what happens...

Not only that, we know younger people are MUCH more resistant to it.

So why are we being peddled fear instead of hope and optimism?

Personally i'm of a skeptical mind and i see this as an opportunity for certain interests to take centre stage and advantage of the situation and its going to leave the average joe worse off than in 2008.
There have been plenty of articles saying that many who have had COVID-19 will be spending years with recovery. I keep saying this - everyone just focuses on how many are dying, without paying any attention to the fact that many will have long-term health issues after getting it.

See my previous post. We're screwed either way.

MILFORD, MA — On Monday, a Milford Board of Health order on face coverings went into effect, and it includes penalties in some limited cases.

On Wednesday night, a Milford woman tried to get police involved in the face covering issue, calling them three different times to report that her neighbors were out in their yard not wearing coverings — and that the neighbors "did not belong" in Milford.

The dispute happened in a neighborhood near Lawrence and Quinlan streets near Milford Regional Medical Center. The first call came in around 5:30 p.m., and ended with the woman screaming and making "derogatory statements about her neighbors" when she was told police wouldn't come, according to a dispatch log.

She called back 7 minutes later to complain again, this time telling a dispatcher that her neighbors "did not belong here." She called again at 6 p.m. with the same complaint and was "screaming incoherently," according to the police log. Milford police did not respond.

The Milford Board of Health order does not cover private areas, like homes and backyards.
