Unfortunately yes. We "made it through" the March-June stint, now people think it's over. That's putting aside the fact that a lot of Americans were shattering every protocol they could because they just don't care.

There are probably 20 other causes of death higher than Covid but none are mentioned in that link.

It's not going to be over for a long time. One scientist doesn't think we'll have a second wave but rather a slow burn, like a forest fire. It will keep burning as long as there is wood to burn. If that's going to be the case, then the goal is just to keep it as consistent as possible so that hospitals have capacity and don't get overwhelmed.

Hopefully deaths will continue to decline though, even if cases don't.

Right now the people getting infected are getting younger...18 to 38.
The older people are protecting themselves.
More cases less deaths, from what we've learned so far (Italy, Spain, UK, France, USA, ...).

The antibodies are not for long term (about three months)...still in progress...
A person who is infected and ok after a while can be re-infected few times more.
Coronavirus is no picnic inside anyone, no matter the age...it makes damage, and kill.
As time goes on more and more cases appear. And more testing is better (for tracking and science).

For any country you like to track, including Canada, this link is always updated and you can pick any country(ies) and compare ...

Very true; cancer, heart attack, car accidents, etc.

36.5% of California's total cases occured in the past 2 weeks

That stat really surprised me, but it's partially (or perhaps mostly) due to increased testing. The positive test rate is increasing however, and hospitalizations are up 16% over the same period as well, though capacity isn't a concern right now.

No surprise there. Us old geezers are staying inside and wearing masks along with practicing social distancing when we have to go out. The younger generations don't care about their health and the results show it.

I'm fine with masks. I've already heard Fauci's views on covid so unless he's changed his stance, I'd prefer to hear from other experts whom I haven't heard yet from.

BTW, he believes, like most experts, that antibodies from covid give you immunity for quite a while. Much longer than the 3 months you posted earlier.

Yeah mainly LA area and areas with high concentrations of poor people. Mostly Hispanics. Now that they are back at work it's going to get worse before it gets better. Same scenario playing out in Texas, Florida and Arizona. A large poor migrant population living in dense housing, often 2-3 families sharing an apartment. Very common for lease holders to rent out rooms and even living rooms to couple or families. Heck, my wife, who is also Hispanic, once rented out a walk in closet for a few months.

Yes I've known this. Age matters, and I guess better if affects those who are less likely to die from it than those over 65 or with preexisting conditions. Lower death rate, no matter how it comes about, is the most important stat IMO.

Yes the older folks now (us) we take this seriously, very.
I was taking this seriously since mid-January actually.

But yes it's us who die first, on average because our age.

Many new cases are now from younger people ... 22 to 42 (roughly).
And COVID-19 is not nice to any one, even the young people.

It scares me a little all those gatherings where people are close together and not wearing masks. ...I admit. I understand though, but in another six months I will understand even more.

The more data, the more observation, the more analysis of what damage COVID-19 creates in all people from all ages the more we understand and the more we can slow it down by living all our lives in security from preventive measures, both @ home and @ work and outside vacationing under the summer sun our two feet on the sandy beach of a remote deserted island somewhere in the Sahara Pacific cooling down with a cold cervesa...Corona, swinging in the hammock.

It's not easy for everyone though; the nurses on the front lines, the poor who cannot afford not working for the rich, and for everyone else confined in close quarters without space and food and water.
