**** deaths, the recoveries seems worse. People are spending months in hospitals and can barely move. People still feel like crap months later.

Feel like going through your life without being able to taste/smell? Think it's NBD so long as you're alive? Feel free to go out and get yerself some Rona. Personally, I'd rather not. |

This is what the media needs to report. They just keep talking about rise in cases but nothing about complications people have.

A quick Google search shows there are many, many articles on what "long-term" effects this is having. A note: The phrase "long-term" isn't very long when you consider we're the only country really struggling right now and it hasn't been a long time, no matter how much our minds want to convince us otherwise. |

Because there's no enforcement of protocols. We are told to wear a mask and that it's mandatory in some states, but is it really enforced? No, people still roam around without masks. Even in outdoor dining, I'm seeing so many waiters serve food with either no masks or masks on their chin. These guidelines for businesses are such jokes. No enforcement whatsoever!
If we're just going to continue counting on people choosing to do what's right, we're not going to get anywhere. It's a shame tho because this virus can be beat without a vaccine. But because people are too stubborn to follow simple rules, we have to wait until a vaccine is available. And even a vaccine is not a guaranteed success because like Fauci said, the anti-vaxxers are going to ruin it. |

That's a reality check ... no money, no stimulus can repair that. Health is more important than all the gold and diamonds in the world, more important than all the money in all the banks, than all the drops of water in all the oceans, all the particles of sand from all the beaches, than all the stars in the universe. And it's going nowhere but widespread. It won't disappear like a magic puff of white cloud. |

Israel is close to going through a 2nd wave of Covid with a huge increase of cases along the West Bank.
Saudi Arabia is back at 4,000 Covid cases a day after having a slight decrease in cases. Saudi Arabia is now at 200,000 cases and rising. And Spain is currently having a 2nd local lockdown in Galicia with 70,000 being ringfenced for quarantine. 250 cases were discovered, with roughly half of them in Lugo to enforce the lockdown to be in place until Friday. Police have asked local people living in the area not to either enter or leave the coastal community of A Marina except for work. |

Part of it is cause we don't know the full effects, and the other part is we just don't have a very united message on the virus either. People are just kind of hearing what they want on it. |

I don't want to stuff Kentucky's Fried Chicken in anyone's throat but the first video interview (half hour) from post #10942 above is in my opinion a must hear.
* The second one you can skip as it's highly technical with medical terms that only doctors understand. ..Or students in medicine and epidemiologists. |

I watched a 2 part investigative journalism documentary from one hospital dealing with Covid-19 in Ireland during the week. It's called RTÉ Investigates: Inside Ireland's Covid Battle. It profiles patients & healthcare workers dealing with the virus at St James Hospital in Dublin. It was broadcast on RTÉ One last Monday & Tuesday night. I found it to be quite emotional in watching it even though I didn't know the people involved in the documentary.
You can watch it here via Youtube. |

Apologies if this has already been posted, but this is an interesting article.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/04/h...eath-rate.html This extract in particular is sobering. " In each of the eight influenza pandemics to hit the United States since 1763, a relatively mild first wave — no matter what time of year it arrived — was followed by a larger, much more lethal wave a few months later, noted Michael T. Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota." |
