Really very upsetting when you think about it. If I hear that other states are going down like NY is, I would feel a lot more at ease right now. No progress has been made in this country as a whole and that’s why I’m upset. I wasn’t expecting it to be over; but was expecting new cases to at least start going down by now. Given our current situation, we have a loooong way to go; much longer than 4 months.

But I agree with you. Very frustrating that people aren’t doing what they’re supposed to. And even more frustrating that we’re in a big mess right now and people still haven’t learned. Hearing Disney World reopening and seeing people lined up like that is enough to make me very furious. What’s people’s excuse? They can’t stay locked home forever and want to live a normal life again. Well yeah, had people done what they were supposed to, we would be back to normal life, or at least, close to it.
Why did you expect new cases would go down when half the country didn't take it seriously? We have never, not once, had ONE UNITED path to this virus. It's been 50 states doing everything how they want, which most people felt would create a whack a mole issue...and it happened exactly like those people said it would. It's now hitting the people that saw little cases, so they rushed to open everything up again, when the smart people said wait.

Like someone else above said, even as Florida is spiking hardcore right now, stupid people are pushing for Disney to open. And that kind of stupid is just gonna drag this thing out all summer long.

And then when it gets cooler and people start staying inside again, we'll probably have another big bump.

This crap is gonna be with us for a good long while.

The "new" normal will be the roller coaster ride as the United States sees cases go up and down without ever truly stabilizing.

Something is truly wrong with Florida. With Florida breaking the US record, they really need to stop with the amusement parks, reopening schools, and enforcing masks, otherwise it's only going to get much worse.

At least 49 million people across the world are expected to plunge into "extreme poverty" -- those living on less than $1.90 per day -- as a direct result of the pandemic's economic destruction and India leads that projection, with the World Bank estimating some 12 million of its citizens will be pushed to the very margins this year.
I keep a close eye open on India ...

I’m watching for a continuing trend in Australia as an indicator for us since their winter is now….

Add in a bad flu season and it does not portend a favorable prognosis for the future unless there are therapeutic breakthroughs and/or widespread distribution of safe and effective vaccines

"Prof Jonathan Heeney, a virologist at the University of Cambridge, said the study confirmed a growing body of evidence that immunity to Covid-19 is short-lived. “Most importantly, it puts another nail in the coffin of the dangerous concept of herd immunity,” he said."

If Florida were a country, new COVID-19 cases ranking –
#1 the United States
#2 Brazil
#3 India
#4 Florida
(but hey, the positivity rate is now only 13½% )

I think they were just quoting his lawyer, who stated this in court. DeNiro's going through an ugly divorce.
