I have both disposable and cloth masks. The problem with the cloth masks I have is there isn't any nose wire and when I wear sunglasses outside, my sunglasses get fogged up. The disposable masks have a nose wire so it helps with the fogging. So I wear the disposable masks when I have to wear sunglasses then wear the cloth mask when I'm walking out in the evening and don't require sunglasses.

I can't seem to find any cloth masks at the store that have nose wires. If I did, I would buy tons of them. I see many at Amazon, but they are overpriced and without seeing them in person, I don't know how good they are.

So if droplets get into the air, it's circulating all over the store and potentially infecting lots of people, including the employees.

Speaking of masks being unpleasant in the summer, I get nagged at by my parents that I don't wear gloves outside. I'm sorry, but it's 90 degrees out with 100% humidity. Wearing gloves during this heat is just plain disgusting, especially since my sweat glands are insanely overactive. I carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with me at all times and I sanitize every time I touch something, so it's all good. But masks, I keep it on as much as possible unless there is absolutely nobody around, which is rare here in NY.
Enforcing capacity limits is pretty impossible as far as I have seen in CA. Some stores tried at one point like a month or two ago but they have basically given up at this point. Part of its the fact that its a huge conflict of interest to have a 200 person store and try to keep the store down to 40 or 50 people. The other problem is capacities are set by the fire martial so some businesses have maximum capacity that is 3 or 4 times higher then their normal high density traffic anyway because they have a lot of exits.

I'm really surprised to see people saying they are wearing N95 masks out in public. While these masks are highly effective in protecting the person wearing them they would actually endanger the rest of the population if the person wearing them has this Covid virus, or really any such virus. These masks are made to be used in a contaminated area and actually propel the often talked about droplets from the wearer.

Here in NY, it was crazy at first with lines outside, but now, it's not so bad. Rarely are there lines now outside. If it can work here in NY, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work in other states.

N95 masks MUST be worn. It's the law.... nah, just messing.

People complain now about being warm and can't breathe using disposable surgical masks or cloth masks. You think that's bad, try wearing an N95 mask. The super in my building says he wears them when he has to paint and he claims that it is literally very very hard to breathe in them.

I tried to add some nose wire to one of my cloth masks and really f***ed it up in the process. Excellent!

Red's, you're thinking of the N95 masks that have release valves (exhalation valves, different terms for the same thing) built into them and propel droplets outward. Not the regular medical grade N95 masks without release valves discussed by bruce, penton, and me on the prior page and this page.

PC Richards is one good example. There is a line outside where people need to wait to get inside. Once you finally get in, a salesman must accompany you during your entire visit to ensure safety and comfort in your shopping experience.

We've had 6 days with no registered deaths in Scotland. Only 2 patients now in ICU. We are moving to allow our tourism sector to reopen from tomorrow.

Congrats!

We had only 8 cases a week ago....now we've had almost 300 in a few days.

Not necessarily.

Yesterday afternoon the Orange County Board of Education voted 4-1 to recommend that schools reopen, without masks or social distancing. The final decision rests with each district. You should see the reaction(s) on the internet, e.g. “Orange County is the new Florida of California” . Wondering now if local teachers will strike, retire early and/or pursue other careers if compelled to be a part of an experiment.

What's happening with Cali? Did they start opening up? I thought they were one of the more strict states out of the gate

A good way to also fight this virus without a vaccine is to invent a in-home testing device. That way, everyone can buy one and test themselves on a regular basis. That way, everyone will know if they have it or not and can quarantine themselves if necessary. Just a thought...

A lot of people wouldn't test themselves though since some are still convinced it's all a hoax.

I never felt the L.A.-area was overly strict in the early weeks/months. Certainly it wasnt as strict as NYC. Anecdotally, it felt like a lot of people quickly became restless and began to socialize. Slowly re-opening was all sort of willed into existence by a growing narrative of “It’s time.” I went to get a haircut almost immediately after barbers reopened and my barber knew we’d close again as cases grew. This could’ve been avoided.

I only said that because some of the Podcasts I listen to are based out in Cali and when this all started, they seemed pretty locked down. Thanks for the answer!
