Yeah it's a bad situation that would be a lot better by now if everyone would socially distance and wear masks. Even my home country I believe has only 900 deaths and nowhere near as many cases as the US. You can definitely tell they took it a lot more seriously than the US has.

Here's something stupid I encountered today. I take the elevator to go up to my apartment. It stopped on the 5th floor and some old woman wants to come in. But she wants to go down. So I tell her it's going up. And she's like, "Ah I'll come in and take it anyway. What goes up has to go down." So she comes in with me. And here's the beauty part, she's wearing her mask on her chin.

Wow, she couldn't stay off the elevator since it's wasn't going down and on top of that, didn't have her mask properly covering her face. Oy vey, the stupidity I have to deal with on a daily basis is just phenomenal! And then people wonder why I'm frustrated about why cases are going up. It's stupidity like this that is causing this pandemic to be worse than it should be...

Experts no longer expect seasonal coronavirus waves: The pandemic is like 'a forest fire looking for human wood to burn'

Quote:
- In April, a group of experts suggested that a second, more severe wave of coronavirus infections in the fall was the likeliest of three future scenarios.

- But now one of those experts says "there are no waves." Instead, he characterizes the pandemic as "a forest fire" that just keeps burning.

- The coronavirus is not seasonal like the flu — at least not yet. The WHO expects the pandemic to be "one big wave."

All elevators round here have notices stating that only people from same households can share elevators. That way, if someone else wants to jump in you just point to the notice and say sorry not this one.

I agree that we need to take it seriously, however I do think it all has been blown a bit out of proportion. Most people who end up with COVID-19 end up recovering. I hope that everyone stays safe and continues to practice safety measures.

If masks are required on public transportation, why isn't anyone enforcing the mandate? There's always one jackass who boards the train without one. I had one last night with a smirk like he knew he was being a jerk. Then he was singing to himself while staring at a phone spreading who knows what. It's easier to enforce the rule on buses because all the driver has to do is look at his rearview mirror to spot the jerks. They need to start hauling people off the vehicles and fining them.

That won't exist in my building. We have 12 floors of residents and only two elevators. EVERYONE literally uses the elevator, even people who live on the first few floors.

I don't think anyone knows the long term affects yet, some reports say that a third of all people that contract the virus will have some form of permanent damage, whether it's lung or heart problems or loss of smell or taste.

yea, because its worth a drivers life to risk confronting a potential lunatic over the no mask...its just not worth it unfortunately. if someone is going to knowingly NOT wear one, you can expect there to be a confrontation.

a third of all people, yea, not buying that....seems like the typical scare mongering nonsense from the start. you know how many people will have permanent long term damage then since most people are asymptomatic?

maybe you/theyre right but im calling BS on that long term crap they keep throwing around

The thing is, people here in my building don't take stairs, so the elevator is in high demand. Apparently those that live in the first few floors find it so difficult to walk up and down a few flights of stairs. So, people like me who live on the 11th floor, have to walk 11 flights.

Nobody said anything about the drivers getting involved. Bus drivers have a way to alert authorities without the passengers knowing. It's only used for emergencies but this could be considered one - you have a potential spreader in a confined area where others may get infected. We're trying to stop the virus, not prolong it so doing this is definitely worth it.

We can probably rule out those that are asymptomatic (I should have stated that), but those who have had fairly visible symptoms may indeed have permanent damage done to their systems, but like everyone says, it's hard to say at the start (scientists are saying "perhaps" and "maybe"), it may take years for studies to come back with results. While I imagine that those that have suffered damage to their lungs and hearts may have some permanent damage (as they're more unlikely to rectify), the issues with taste and smell might be temporary.

First COVID-19 update since last Thursday coming today for New Mexico at 3. Doubt it will be anything important, our governor loves to hear herself talk but takes little real action to make a difference.

it certainly seemed like you were implying to have the bus driver intervene.

"It's easier to enforce the rule on buses because all the driver has to do is look at his rearview mirror to spot the jerks. They need to start hauling people off the vehicles and fining them."

but regardless, you cant be contacting the police as an emergency. some people have medical conditions saying they arent required to wear them etc etc etc.... so youre just going to create more problems for everyone by doing so.

I think some towns should look into more officials whose duty it would be to enforce wearing masks. Might help people be more compliant with wearing masks and could be a good source of income for those who haven't been able to really work since March.

What a shit-show.

There are mask wearers and non-mask wearers and poor folk who can't wear them*.

So businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone as long as it's not on discriminatory grounds, are those mask exempt protected by the grounds? I hope people are helping them out, but if you are exempt would you travel on public transport (obviously some have no choice)? Shouldn't they have a specified area where they can social distance on a bus without upsetting other passengers? The same question applies to their work environment ...

*Some folk can't wear them because of PTSD, they don't need anymore stress.

What a shit-show.

Photos of our pool and hot tub complex where I live. Normally Alex and I are there 2 or 3 times a day. Has not opened yet nor will it probably this year. We have been waiting for the Health Inspector to give it his blessing. He was asked to do the inspection back in early May. Has yet to show up.

Went to the gym for the first time since March. Though we're not required to wear masks during workouts I still saw people wearing them under their nose or chin.

Either wear the ****ing thing properly or don't wear it at all.

I guess masks have this magical ability to repel the virus away from you. So whether worn on the face or on the chin, you're somehow still protected.

You know what really annoys me even more? When people wear their masks on their chin, they keep talking to the people they're with and they get so close to you and don't bother to social distance at all. What the hell is wrong with these people?
