No, you're not wrong chip, the numbers are suspect. It does seem like anyone who died after testing positive, regardless of cause , was being counted. The only change is that they're now only looking at deaths within a 28-day window from a positive test, which results in an overall decrease in the amount of deaths reported. It still doesn't seem to be excluding people dying from non-COVID related causes/reasons. Either way you slice it, the data is a little faulty.

The death counts are being padded to scare people into following the protocols so the healthcare systems won't be more overwhelmed than they already are. I will leave it at that.

The death counts are padded so the hospitals can get CV-19 money that Congress allocated in the CARES Act.

I'm a little confused by this. If a covid-positive patient, without insurance, gets admitted to a hospital, wouldn't the Cares Act pay for the bill whether the person lives or dies?

States ranking, daily cases per 100k (7D ave), worst to first.

Same table, but sort by trend, best to worst. Change is from last week.

40th, we're rising a bit again, probably why the state health officials are holding off on re-entering phase 2.

40th as in 40th worst, or 11th best. Cases down from last week also.

I'm such an idiot. I was in a hurry to go to the store this morning, that I quickly got ready and I ended up getting out of my apartment without my mask on. I was walking down the hallway and my neighbors saw me. It wasn't until I was about to enter the elevator when I realized I didn't have my mask. So, I quickly ran back to my apartment to get my mask. How embarrassing and a couple of my neighbors (who all responsibly wear masks) saw me! They must think I'm a jerk for not wearing a mask!

Not only am I humiliated, but I'm so angry at myself. How could I have forgotten that we are in a pandemic???

Happened to me more than once in the last five months. Don't beat yourself up about it. Do what I do, which is keep your mask on top of your wallet, so you're not likely to forget it when you leave.

That makes me feel better knowing it’s not just me. Seriously, this pandemic needs to end! I’m so sick of wearing a mask!!

Think of it as a gift, mate. You spent five glorious minutes were your brain forgot you were living in a pandemic.

Next time you see your neighbours tell them. Don't beat yourself up, you're living responsibly and contributing to saving peoples' lives.

well mathematics and reality seems to disagree with that unless we go that there is something scarier causing all the excess deaths this year.

I don't think he means they count people that survive as dead just because they had covid-19, he is saying anyone dying of anything is counted as a covid-19 death.

Don't fret it, this is new to everyone, it is hard to change old behaviors. I am sure like you and me your neighbors must have forgotten for a few seconds how to react in the new reality.

It takes some getting used to.

If a patient is admitted to a hospital after surviving a heart attack, while in recovery, they test him for CV-19 (he shows no symptoms) and he tests positive. The next day he dies from a heart attack, if they list him as a CV-19 mortality, they can get more money than if they claim his mortality came about from a heart attack.

There are numerous stories about this going on. You can do a search. Doctors being told what to put as reason for death.

We have a very short walk from our front door to the car. In the car are 4 masks. The worst that has happened, we get out of the car and start to walk to a store, realize we are mask less, then turn right around, go back to the car and grab our masks.

It was sorta the same thing when we had the no plastic bags allowed here in NM - prior to the pandemic. You had to bring your own bags into the store. We had a bunch stuffed into a backpack. LOL - which we forget to bring with us into the store at least 50% of the time. Standing on the checkout line, realizing the mistake - my son has to go out to the parking lot and grab the backpack. OK for like a Dollar Tree. Major PITA for a Walmart.
