has dropped its objections and signed off on the FDA’s new stricter guidelines for vetting COVID-19 vaccines
The panelists made it clear that for a drug to go through Operation Warp Speed and get Emergency Use Authorization, is not an easy task. They want the COVID trials to have double the normal participants and then, after a panel reviews the data, the company can ask for EUA. No rush job here.

In regards to the rising cases here in the U.S., all I have to say is ... here we go again! Cases go up, then go down and then go up again.

This is never ending. I'm about to go into deep depression because somehow, I feel we are NEVER going to get through this. We can't even keep cases down and maintain a low infection rate. I don't expect a vaccine to fix it because either many people will opt out of the vaccine, or people's behavior will get worse since everyone will walk around thinking they have 100% immunity.

Why do some people wear masks while driving alone in their cars with the windows up?

...does it make any sense at all?

This is hilarious.

People simply cannot admit that he's doing just fine.

We'll be having this same discussion next year...

"Oh sure, he LOOKS and sounds fine but my wife says..."

Is there ANY timeline for when the naysayers will give up and say, "Well, damn, he's recovered."?

I'm enjoying the silliness.

Because people who are just fine usually don't gasp for air like a fish out of water? Or maybe because he's (supposedly) only 5 days into this and even his docs say he may not be out of the woods yet? Yeah, probably because of all that.

No matter what the profession/job, past or present, might be of an individual with COVID-19, zee wife (my soul mate and medical advisor) is well qualified and experienced to comment on various therapeutics and diagnostics for COVID-19, e.g. before scan talk became fashionable - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post17433778

and is actually participating (albeit indirectly, long distance) in the clinical management of my brother-in-law who is seriously ill with COVID (already suffering from heart and lung damage), so commenting on the various side effects of corticosteroids is quite rudimentary for her. You may learn something along the way , no matter your personal ideology or political affiliation. Also, regarding the President or anyone else for that matter, long-term health consequences remain a concern – "postacute COVID-19 syndrome is not just observed among patients who had severe illness and were hospitalized" - https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2771581

Of course it does. If you want to maintain maximum hygenic precautions, it makes a lot of sense not to be taking your mask on and off, as you could contaminate it if you've touched anything contaminated.

From that perspective it makes sense to keep the mask on at all times from the moment you leave home until you've had a chance to wash/disinfect your hands.

Or you could just wear a hazmat suit and a gas mask.

I've seen people wearing what looks like a diving re-breather. I'm always tempted to blurt "Is it Halloween already?"

On a serious note, I'm incredulous every time I see someone on the street or on the Subway without a mask. I don't know if it's entitlement, lack of funds to buy a mask or stupidity. Maybe it's a combination of all three. Municipal governments should be going around handing out masks to those that don't have one. They hand out syringes to addicts and schools used to hand out condoms

If it's not an n-95 mask, it will only prevent your corona from spreading out in the air. So if you touch the mask you are only touching your corona, so it's ok, you can't reinfect yourself more.

Its called personal choice. People do their own research and can decide for themselves what is neccessary or not. Not everyone agrees on which opinions are the right one.

what makes me shake my head are people riding bikes alone with a mask on.
People alone in cars with the windows up with masks on.
People with masks on in stores but its under their nose.

Had this discussion/argument with others several times over the months. At first I thought it was silly as well - but someone pointed out, they could also be doing a run where they go to more than one place ie. get gas, get groceries, pick something up from he post office etc. - in that case it's recommended not to take your mask off until you're home and can wash hands/sanitize, otherwise you risk contaminating your mask.

I do that frequently. I am going from one store to another. The trip is less than two minutes (sometimes less than 30 seconds). Easier just to leave it on. Windows up because I always lock my car when I leave it.

I never take my mask off in public. Period.

from the memo - “Of note today, the President’s labs demonstrated detectable levels of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies from labs drawn Monday, October 5th; initial IgG levels drawn late Thursday night were undetectable.”
Seriously, that ^ is not at all notable given the patient received – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...l#post18146674

In fact, it could be noted that if the Regeneron treatment were not working and that since only 1/3 of infected patients develop antibodies on their own by one week’s time with the median being more like 2 weeks, the patient could have been infected earlier than we thought.
