Very interesting but disturbing at the same time. These things can’t be ignored though. To think many people still don’t take it seriously is mind boggling.

Back in March my state was averaging 1,500+ new cases every day and they essentially shut down the state. Now we're back up to those same numbers and no one seems to care.

I don't think it's a matter of not caring - it's just that at the beginning everyone was scared shitless they were going to die, and willingly accepted all the restrictions thinking that after a few months of pain the virus would be defeated or reduced to the point that it wasn't a big deal until a vaccine eventually came along.

Now people are realizing this virus is never going away, any forthcoming vaccine is unlikely to really change the situation - and so now it's more a matter of 'what can you do?'.

Well they have a lot of nerve. Europe is the one going through the "second wave."

I find it absolutely disgusting that we're over 7 months into this pandemic and no progress has been made. It's deja vu all over again. Health experts were spot on when they warned us that a second wave would hit us in the Fall. Yet, no one made any effort to prevent that from happening! Come on!

You are making it sound like stopping a virus is easy.

It sure is. It's people refusing to do what they are supposed to. While I wasn't expecting the virus to be completely gone at this point, we should be continuously slowing the spread, at least.

Do you really think the virus would miraculously go away when nonsense like this continues to go on...?

I know I've posted this video before, but I'll post it again. Even Fauci says the pandemic didn't have to be this bad.

So please stop living in denial and act as if we did the best we could with this pandemic. We failed in the past and what's bad is that we haven't learned from our failure and still continue to fail 'til this day.

Actually, it's misattributed to Einstein.

Yup, When my job shut down/went virtual, we were at half the cases the state is seeing today. We're fully open with our hours extending to pre-covid levels.

But all upper management still gets to work from home.

Also, in terms of ‘immunity’, although very people have received targeted COVID-19 monoclonal antibodies early in the course of the disease, like in the case of the Regeneron antibody cocktail and therefore might now feel invincible. As it hasn’t AFAIK been reported in the media, nor companys' press releases, as having personally been involved as a volunteer in the REGN-COV2 clinical trial (https://www.avsforum.com/threads/mas...#post-60012459 ) I think folks would be surprised as to the ˝ life of either Regeneron or Lilly’s anti-COVID-19 monoclonal antibody offerings, i.e. it’s temporary.

Additionally, if given early in the course of the disease, specialists (like my better half ) believe that there’s an awfully good chance the patient will not develop their own immune response to the virus (upside being, if infected, you won’t be vulnerable to a cytokine storm which can be deadly), downside being, because the natural immune response was blunted by the administration of monoclonals in the first place, the length of time of the patient having immunity is further curtailed.

Feeling pretty down right now...

Province just hit an all time high for cases. Our Premier was exposed and is now in isolation...they're stopping asymptomatic testing as they can't keep up anymore. etc. etc.

And Winter just barely started.

I've just read tonight that, the BBC's Religion Editor, Martin Bashir is currently 'seriously unwell' suffering from Covid-19 complications.

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-54639674

I wish him well with fighting this disease. I hope he pulls through.

stay safe folks, even short exposures (like passing unmasked COVID-infected people in hallways, at a wedding, etc.) can be dangerous if such encounters add up to 15 min. within a 24-hr. time period
