Many people have very unpleasant side effects from penicillin, but it's something tons of people have to take when they get sick. What I worry about is like the article says, some may not come back for their second dose, which again means this will be an uphill battle to convince people to take it. It also sounds like not everyone suffers from the side effects: Quote:
Pay people $1,000 to take it. It's the only way to get everyone (or most everyone) on-board. Especially if it means you'll lose a day of work and feel like crap for a day after taking it. Last edited by mar3o; 11-24-2020 at 11:59 AM. |

The current 'flu vaccine is only ~50-60% effective sometimes, and people don't have a problem with that. You don't need massively high efficacy figures for herd immunity to work. The fact that we now have 3 independent and different vaccines, all working and all with high efficacy, is absolutely wonderful. As for suggesting a need to pay people to have a vaccine which will save themselves and their loved ones, instead of those people having any semblance of civic or moral duty whatsoever or a basic desire to have the vaccine... I have no words. Over here, any and all suggestion of coercion, either carrots or sticks, is being rightly slapped down very quickly: it is not the answer and not the way to get people on board. My nephew's stepdaughter has now tested negative (as well as her dad) so she was able to go back to him and his wife. She never did develop symptoms.
My sister surprisingly tested negative and her husband is still fairly sick. His temperature is just over 100, but has not gone down. He feels bad, but not too terrible. I told my sister she better keep herself protected because she will most likely get it. She thought she had it because she was feeling some symptoms, but maybe it was just allergies. |

It just seems so weird. My sister just told me his temperature is down to 99, she is taking him to get tested again tomorrow. Their son has tested six times, all negative. He doesn't live with them though. They are not sure where her husband would have picked it up.

I live with my mom who had it but I never got it despite having no immune system right now due to chemo. It’s odd.

- Let whoever wants to take it take it, and those who don't don't. That won't work out so well sadly as many won't take it. - Force people to take it with mandates. That's a bad idea and won't turn out well. - Offer money as an incentive. Now people will consider it that otherwise wouldn't, helping all of us. I agree it's a shame we have to resort to paying people to take it, but if it helps all of us, then maybe it's the best solution. It's better than half the population not taking it. |

Despite misgivings by the WHO (from your past post - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post18325996) she and other local critical care physicians (based on personal experience) believe that Remdesivir may show modest, nevertheless significant, value in select patients. I’d take it if hospitalized and fit their criteria, keep that in mind for yourself and your family if so confronted.

mar, I agree. To clarify, the Oxford researchers have suggested the vaccine may reduce transmission of the virus because they saw fewer asymptomatic cases in their trial which is a hopeful indicator until we get more definitive data.

There are already rumblings in the Hollywood movie community about studios sometime next year requiring folks who desire to work on film productions to have been vaccinated. I think it’s a good idea especially if it turns out that lack of transmissibility with these viruses correlates well with their high efficacy in preventing serious illness.

December 12 is possibly a date closer to some vaccine distribution...in the USA.
