It isn't just the younger people who want to defy the rules with their FL Spring Break partying:

A Louisiana pastor defies a state order and holds a church service with hundreds of people

Quote:
(CNN)On Tuesday night, just before the police arrived, Pastor Tony Spell stood in the pulpit of his Louisiana church and delivered a message to hundreds of worshipers before him and fellow believers around the world.

I know this is hardly the most important thing to fixate on in these troubled times, but I'm still curious...does anyone know how far in advance of streetdate most retailers stock movies? With Amazon not accepting new shipments of non-medical and non-essential supplies until at least the beginning of April, I wonder how long it will be before we don't get the new releases. And, of course, once that starts I wonder how long it will go on. Of course many releases we can order direct from the suppliers, but it's considerably more expensive that way, without the Amazon pre-order price guarantee. Sorry if this has already been asked.

The number of cases in NY is really skyrocketing now that it's not even funny.

As of now, by state, from most populated to least populated...

1) California 886 cases (not even half as many cases as NY)
2) Texas 224 cases
3) Florida 328 cases
4) New York 3,083 cases!!!!!

NY is not even the most populated state. Why on earth does it have the most number of cases BY FAR??? And the rate it's skyrocketing is absolutely phenomenal! Yesterday, we were a little under 2,000. Now we're over 3,000!!! WTF?!?!

I don't have kids, but working from home is really getting to me. I miss going outside and taking a walk. By the time evening comes and my work is done, the sun is already down. I miss going outside and commuting to work because I got a little exercise and saw a little sunlight. It's driving me mad. Will this pandemic be over tomorrow?

Because NYC is the most-traveled hub in the world? That's my guess anyway.

Looks like we'll be dealing with this for at least 18 months, which is when a vaccine is expected to be available. I guess they don't think the warm weather will combat the virus.

NYC is also like a sardine can. Just look at the subway system alone. It doesn't surprise me that they are coming up with the most positives.

Well the way those figures are rising, it appears people are still traveling. People need to stop traveling NOW!!!

I hope people realize that the more we play games and don't do what we're supposed to do, then the longer this pandemic will last. People's actions will dictate how long we will have to deal with this outbreak.

This only applies to third-party sellers.

There is something not right with those numbers:

NY STATE REELING FROM CORONAVIRUS: Cases jump by more than 1,000 in one day to 2,382, death toll now 20

Quote:
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York State has more coronavirus cases than any state in the U.S., as the number cases jumped by more than 1,000 in one day to 2,382 statewide, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday.

There have been 20 deaths related to the virus, as well, he announced.

Cuomo also said he would sign an executive order making it mandatory that no more than 50 percent of the workforce can report to work statewide. Essential workers are exempt. Cuomo added media organizations to the essential workers group.

I'm not sure what you mean by "traveling." Do you mean going to work?

Remember, this thing can hang around for weeks. There's no way to clean the subways and we're on top of one another.

It was inevitable.

And the city is still open. People are still walking around. Still taking the subway to and from work. Hell, the gentleman who does my taxes is still coming to see me tomorrow and he is in his 70's. I got asked on a date last night by a guy who had just come from hanging out with his friends, playing drinking games, after getting out of work, where he's still going to the office.

People have different priorities.

We're testing more than other states are. And, again, we're on top of one another.

Cuomo is doing a great job of dealing with this.

Let's see, in terms of NYC...
  • Most people do not drive, but walk on packed sidewalks, take taxis, or ride packed subways.
  • People pack into (live in) skyscrapers and also ride the same elevators.

I have to assume he's never been here.

For people who haven't, it might be hard to fathom that what they see in movies and on TV is real and how we live our daily lives.

LMAO! I live in NYC and have lived here all my life.

It's crowded here, yeah, but believe it or not... it's not as bad as other parts of the world. I've had colleagues who were born in other countries and told me that NYC crowd is nothing compared to where they are from.

And I'm sure states like California and Florida are pretty crowded as well.

The John Hopkins arcgis map is currently showing 3,074 cases in NY so those numbers are probably accurate.

Cuomo repeats ad nauseum that we have to slow the spread.

So far, that has yet to be achieved and we're not even close to it. Not saying it's his fault, but he's right, we have to slow it. But we haven't even stabilized the rate of the spread given all that we've been doing, such as shutting down business, people staying at home, and people buying lifetime supply of hand sanitizers. So how the F*** are we going to slow it? That's what concerns me. I don't think we even can and because of that, our hospital system will indeed crash!!

You need to disconnect from the matrix... unplug the cables and step away.

CORONAVIRUS ON LONG ISLAND: Suffolk reports 'dramatic jump' to 152 cases, Nassau reports 278

Quote:
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Long Island, like other areas in the tri-state, continue to see a jump in coronavirus cases: Suffolk County officials on Wednesday reported a "dramatic jump" in cases to 152 countywide; on Tuesday that number was 97.

There are 142 new cases of coronavirus in Nassau County, bringing the countywide total to 278, officials said Wednesday.

The total number of cases on Long Island is 430 as of Wednesday afternoon.

County Executive Steve Bellone said in a briefing, "This is simply a reflection of what we have been talking about," in reference to a boost is testing.

There is also now a drive-through coronavirus testing site at Stony Brook University in Nassau County.
