Any other Francophile’s here? What’s your favourite Jess Franco movie? Or which one are you looking forward to getting a Blu-ray release?

I only just learned about him like a decade ago (thanks to the doom metal band Electric Wizard mentioning his films in an interview), but I have tried to see as many of his movies as possible. Some are definitely more solid than others, but I really appreciate his wild approach to filmmaking and lurid eroticism.

I know these aren’t deep cuts, but some of my favorites are:

- Diabolical Dr. Z
- Female Vampire (Lena Roman is one of the sexiest women of all time)
- She Killed in Ecstasy (Soledad was one of the all-time beauties)
- Bloody Moon

Still have a lot more to see! Looking to build up my library.

it may be unclear to some that choose to watch franco films that enjoi attractive women good music by daniel white and franco himself okay yes and beatuful locations where as they look as if he goes above his means to film there which in truth he never payed to film in those locations see the castles in portgese love letter nun and the hotel of affairs in eugenie erotismo the beach the nightmare portals he uses yes sailboats yes the lagoon the glorious mirrorshots and his favored zoom lens is what you might think of at times besides the derlirium accumstomed and the haunting dreams that occur when you are here the subtle humor and the freedom to achieve

haha. i watched bahia blanca a few nights ago. wasn't really into at first, played mostly like a spanish soap opera, but ended up liking it by the end. pretty tame for franco, but interesting characters and story. lovely photography as well

I though Bahia Blanca was one of the better Franco's I have seen. Waiting to watch the other but from what I sampled it seems a little more explicit then your typical Franco + coupled with the 11 min of NSFW outtakes

I never watched the DVDs but both BDs are great releases, about as good as it gets.

I have both the Mondo DVDs and the Blu-rays, but have not had a chance to compare them. They are both available on Amazon.fr, but cheaper to buy from Le Chat last time I checked. I bought mine from them close to a month and a half ago, and they dispatched them pretty much the next day. They were packed well and arrived in perfect shape. I highly recommend ordering directly from them. Their service was fantastic. It took about 23 days to arrive in Rhode Island. Not bad at all.

thanks for the info. ordered from le chat and it came out to $51 for both, including shipping. which is a pretty good deal anyway.

lorna is one of my fave franco films, but going in blind with sinner: the secret diary of a nymphomaniac. early 70s franco is the best though, so looking forward!

Yeah, I'd agree - if you want something more traditionally-paced and classic, go for the early gothics. Or, the Harry Alan Towers films like Eugenie or Count Dracula. For outright sleaze, the Dietrich period with all the women in prison films which were still conventionally made compared to some of his other stuff.

In fairness though, I love Vampyros Lesbos!
