I've been thoroughly impressed by youtube 4K though on the few times I've dragged my PC over to the TV specifically for that purpose.

Oh, that you do, but - forgive my cheeky reply - just because a TV is 4K doesn't mean that its youtube app will magically output at 4K no matter how good your internet is.

It's Bitstream Out from player to receiver or pre-amp with Dolby Atmos and maybe DTS: X decoding and rendering. You would need to upgrade. And besides, you may have troubles with UHD media without everything being HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 compliant. That might be reason enough to go shopping. |

Ive watched quite a bit of 4k youtube. Some do look very compressed but quite a bit look top notch. It depends how the video was uploaded.

If anybody who actually knows about this please correct me if i'm wrong, but i would think the BDA would of mentioned this important aspect in their reports of 4K downconversion to 1080p displays. |

HDMI 1.4 itself is fully capable of sending and receiving a 4K signal, as has been proven and evidenced by the numerous PC graphics cards on the market with HDMI 1.4 outputs that have been putting up 4K signals for several years now. |
