Haha!! You shouldn't worry, I don't think HFR is about to take off anytime soon. I think The Hobbit trilogy in HFR wasn't exactly a succes or we would have seen more movies using it by now.

Me, I'm all for HFR. It's an unnerving experience for sure but once my brain adjusts then it's not like watching a movie any more, it's like being there in the same room with them. Look, I still adore the way that 24fps moves, it's got a magic all its own and yet I can't deny that HFR is something I wanna see more of.

That's the exact problem I have with it, it's like being there in the studio with them.

Now, for sports or events, it makes sense. I could get on board with that.

I had more than two hours for my brain to adjust during the whole running time of The Battle Of The Five Armies, but it didn't happen. You're right in that it wasn't like watching a movie anymore, it was more like watching a making of documentary or behind the scenes footage. But seriously, I just couldn't adapt even though I tried. For me, the magic was completely gone.

Sports, documentaries or music concerts, yes. Then I think I would like to give it another try.

You guys have got to give it much more time than being exposed to a few motion pictures in order to definitively/ultimately like, or not, HFR with movies given you’ve been conditioned your whole lives in associating the visual movie experience with 24fps.

Heck, I grew up on beef….steaks, hamburgers, etc. and it took me years to develop a taste for fish, first at the urging of my mother, then my wife. Now I enjoy it much more than beef, also satisfyingly knowing in the back of my mind that it is far healthier for my body (granted it is not significantly contaminated, from Harvard’s SEAS - https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/sto...ry-in-seafood/)

P.S.
Steed, the first several soccer matches I ever watched I nearly fell asleep on our sofa….now I nearly go into withdrawal between Prem league seasons unless there is a major tournament like the World Cup.

Oh for sure, June and July are testing times not just for missing football but for the heat, which I hate. I’m one of those odd folk who much prefers the cold.

I am with you on this. Billy Lynn, despite not being one of my favorite movies, was a real eye-opener. we are really in the Neanderthal era when it comes to motion. Let's face it, it is called 'Motion Movie Picture" for a reason.
I am all for HFR and I don't think it makes movies less 'movie-like'. If anything, it enhances the overall immersive effect.

I have been exposed to 24p my whole life just like everybody elese, and yet as soon as I witnessed HFR firsthand I immediately ell in love with it. I watched Billy Lynn several times just based on frame rate alone, and also that other short they have on Netflix and YouTube which I also believe to display the vast potential of HFR in movies

but I miss your YouTube music videos, Waboman is going to have to take up the slack if we're ever going to get close to achieving 80,000 views for this thread for the month of May. Steed, Geoff et al. are doing their parts.
