I haven’t had the chance to read his latest Circles Gone Wild and honestly, I’m in no rush to do so. Heck I haven’t even watched last weekend’s North London derby yet. I’ll leave the newest color circles version up to you guys to assess.

Adding HDR to existing formats (HDTV, Blu-ray, maybe VHS):

The current HDR system offers many brightness levels above
(video) peak white, anyone know if just a few brightness levels
would have a similar impact on the viewer (it would seem that

Qualcomm says their new Snapdragon 855 is capable of both recording and playback of 4k60p HDR10+ (besides 5G, HDR gaming, and other upgrades). And that one phone will have that functionality in 2019. Attached are screencaps from their keynote livestream.

Wonder what phone. Does Sony use snapdragon? If not, my guesses are either the Note10 or 1plus7T

I tend not to read most threads/websites regarding what I think will be comments regarding Tom and Christopher’s recent PSA, but for thoughtful feedback, I did read this today on an outside Cinematographer oriented professional forum by a vision scientist (Ph.D) contributor -

“Video smoothing is fantastic for live sports, but movies need a far more aesthetically pleasing solution than that.”

I’ll remind that there are pitfalls with “video smoothing” even with sports. Live sports could appear visually better with native HFR capture, delivery, and display…..

Blu-ray sales were up nearly 9 per cent this Black Friday compared to the previous one, according to the latest data released by Media Play News Research.

There is further proof that 4K sales may have driven this Black Friday's bumper Blu-ray results. While Blu-ray unit sales grew by 3.4% compared to results from last Black Friday, revenue grew by a higher 8.9%. This means a higher average unit price for sales this year compared to the last, and this usually either means strong box set sales, or perhaps more likely, strong sales of the higher priced UHD titles.

Spending the money is the easy part....at least for me, the difficult part is finding the time to watch more than a very modest number of movies at home, not to mention on really tired nights I've fallen asleep during some of them.

Do you guys have man servants?
