Default USB Type-C / HDMI

UHD 4K & USB Type-C / HDMI

Apparently, the USB Type-C to HDMI cable is capable of handling 18 Gbps which is the 4k@60fps rate: there is no conversion, all the video and audio data go directly from the source device to a sink device.

After viewing Captain Marvel I was a bit disappointed. The movie should have been about 30 minutes longer. It needed more character and backstory development. Previous Marvel movies have had this so you could identify with the main character but unfortunately it was lacking in this movie.

Ryan did a thought provoking follow-up piece a couple days ago as to possible consequences - http://www.latimes.com/business/holl...308-story.html .

The funny thing is despite the mouse house becoming more powerful, in the talent trenches, Netflix actually continues to be very successful in luring employees away from Disney (as well as other studios) as Netflix pays very well and the amenities are pretty fine, e.g. two types of cold brew coffee on tap, all types of milks, etc. whereas with some Hollywood studios, for instance you go into the bathroom to do your business and you get cheap 2-ply toilet tissue that you even have a hard time unrolling from the dispenser. I swear I think they do that on purpose to save money.

Smile Calling on you Penton-Man, our Hollywood insider

rosat.jpg

You can see Rosa tearing up in this scene.

Rosa Salazar gave a magnificent performance as Alita. Rosa portrayed her from a naive, tender-hearted, compassionate young girl, to a determined warrior with a scarred heart brilliantly. Alita displayed the wide range of human emotions. Considering that Alita is completely CGI and the first character to star in (she is in effect, the lead actress) in a big Hollywood production, I hope Rosa gets recognized for her performance by her peers.

So I have two questions:

1. What is the buzz in Hollywood toward her performance.

2. Is there some award she could earn during the awards season? (If there isn’t, then one should be developed, because more of these type of roles will appear in coming years. To me her performance was no different than an actor/actress wearing makeup. Rosa herself was on screen in every sense of the word.)

I also agree Rosa gave a great performance. The way the movie was shot it really was her doing most of the scenes with motion and facial capture to create the overlay we saw on the screen. I hope in the US they will release a combo of the 4K and 3D version. I really will enjoy watching it again in 3D.

after AMPAS floating this (unsuccessfully) –

Dear Fellow Academy Members,
……While still honoring the achievements of all 24 awards on the Oscars, four categories — Cinematography, Film Editing, Live Action Short, and Makeup and Hairstyling – will be presented during commercial breaks, with their winning speeches aired later in the broadcast.
And, with the help of our partners at ABC, we also will stream these four award presentations online for our global fans to enjoy, live, along with our audience. Fans will be able to watch on Oscar.com and on the Academy’s social channels. The live stream is a first for our show, and will help further awareness and promotion of these award categories.....

-------------------------

Don’t hold your breath as to the Academy Board of Governors proposing a new hybrid acting category in this regard, so best hope she’s nominated in the traditional Best Actress role.

As an aside, she does have an interesting real life story herself.
