Love the film even more in 24 BUT, as expected, halftime show scene intercut with action scene is much more emotional in 60. The 60 is more overwhelming, but that might also be in part experiencing the film the first time.

I don't know about this based off the cinematography used and the feel of the movie HFR may not work for them.

Are they gonna try and convert older titles into HFR as well, or will it be native HFR only?

This is definitely not true. Realism isn't the goal of cinema and never has been. SOME films, sure. But not all. Not even most.

Is that why we have wide gamut and REC709 these days? Or what about resolution going higher and higher?[emoji6]

That is not being "close to reality;" it's about allowing the best possible presentation of the source material.

What does wide gamut do to the picture or better yet- to how we perceive the picture?

The same way high dynamic range and higher resolution do? It allows for a more technically advanced presentation. That has no bearing on the film's look or style.

That means that, for example, that patch of grass captured on film will be more accurately represented. It will look on screen more authentic to what it looks like if you were staring at the real thing

Are you going to complain that that patch of grass looks too much like real grass and ruins the movie too? Or that it is too distracting because it looks too real?

What? You're creating a straw man here. I'm not complaining about anything.

Detail and accuracy shouldn't be conflated with "realism." Suspiria doesn't look real. Neither does Gone with the Wind. Or Black Narcissus. Or Se7en. Or The Godfather. Better technology allows for better picture quality, which is not necessarily the same thing as looking like "real life."

Wider color gamut and more resolution, I get it. Shrinking the gaps of the technology limit to produce a "better" picture.

Higher frame rate? I feel like it's trying to solve a problem that doesn't exists. Granted I have one sample size with it, and (IMO) it was undesirable. I suppose I need to see more examples of this to be convinced.

Those are all movies that came out at particular periods of times. They wouldn't look like that if they were filmed today. Motion is just another aspect that studios can improve upon just like color space and HDR

Oh good lord. Suspiria, Gone with the Wind, and Black Narcissus are some of the most gorgeous films ever made. No movies today look anywhere near as good.

I fully support technological advancements including HFR, but we shouldn't be equating that with visual beauty or artistic success.

We can't have picture quality that's too good. We're movie enthusiasts - therefore we should all demand to go back to 480p TVs, or even black and white ones!

And 60fps?! Sorcery! 24fps is clearly the way to go. If anything, we should decrease that framerate even further!

I have never seen so many straw men being created at once.

Do you think old silent movies are not very movie-like and find the frame rate too distracting? Do you think that people of the time found those films too distracting in their frame rate?

Why are you asking me? I have already said I support HFR.
