I sit the very same distance from the very same size screen literally every day and the difference between 4K and up-scaled 1080p in that viewing situation is clear as day, every time. Perhaps you're missing some visual acuity and/or critical viewing skills.

The difference between up-scaled 1080p and 4K should be even tougher to distinguish than between non-up-scaled 1080p and 4K, but I still have no difficulty seeing it at that size/distance. Seriously, it's not a subtlety I struggle to see- it's quite evident.

Fair enough and that's fine. Perhaps now, though, you can bear in mind that some other people do see that difference and value it and be a little less dogmatic in your insistence that the format has little or no benefit.

This kind of know-it-all trolling from 4K naysayers is so tiresome.

You don't see a difference. I do. That's fine. If there's anything we should have learned about 4K tech by now, it's YMMV. |

Reminds me of the folks that claimed to see no difference between Blu and DVD.
And where there was a big difference they'd claim so-and-so video company deliberately gimped the DVD to make it look worse and promote BD sales. Reality is as displays, transfers, compression & authoring improved over time. The difference between 4K and standard BD will widen over time as people get comfortable with the technology and start pushing the envelope. |
