Anyways I finally finished watching the 3D version at home and the conversion is just as good and even more dazzling than I remember. Sure it may not have a ton of popouts, but the 3D layering was strong throughout and looked absolutely kick*** and Stereo D again shows they are some of the best conversion studios in the industry (I'd still argue they are the best, but upon viewing the 3D in World War Z again, Prime Focus is quickly going neck and neck with them. As a 3D fan this kind of competition means I'm in for even more 3D eyegasms from these guys lmao ) and only a few times did it seem like the 3D needed to be cranked up just a tiny bit more (This only sticks out to me in some of the air combat shots at the finale, but it's a just a tiny nitpick).

Also I may be in the minority, but I thought Thor 2's 3D looked quite nice. It's surprisingly a little bit more low key looking compared to the past 2 Marvel 3D movies, but it still was very noticeable to me and it looked great imo and I'm soooooooooo ready to return to the world they've established with Thor in Nov.!
You're right, I never thought Prime Focus, after a number of weak 3D titles in the past, would finally start giving us some much improved medium to strong 3D conversions like Men In Black 3 3D, World War Z and a few others. Great stuff.

The good news about Thor 2, is there will likely be a lot of CGI 3D renderings, so hopefully they amp up the 3D during those shots.

Agreed, the finale' scene in Iron Man 3's 3D must have been rushed to meet the deadline, as it doesn't have the same 3D depth as earlier action scenes.

The sky diving scene looked good in 3D. The final fight scene was cool too.

I watched this one again tonight and thought the 3D was better this time around. I was much too harsh on this one the first I saw it. I still don't think its one of the best converted 3D movies or anything like that, but it is better than I originally thought.

Sky diving scene was GREAT 3D!!! Also I particularly mentioned Prime Focus because I'm very fond of them and their work, even if they had a rough time getting past the bad rap from Clash of the Titans 3D (lets face it, that conversion was not their fault, but Warner's lol). From what I've seen recently, I still think their conversion for the last Harry Potter movie is one of their best early ones. Not crazy strong depth, but it's consistent and solid and greatly enhances the movie for me and I think there rotoscoping work in the Room of Requirement in some overhead shots during the fire escape is very impressive imo.

I was also harsh like that with Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter's 3D. It was much better as others were saying, compared to how I viewed it in theaters. At home, the 3rd time around, I sat back farther and it looked much better in 3D. Some 3D movies require sitting further back as BleedOrange mentioned awhile back.

Iron Man 3's 3D is mostly medium, with some strong 3D shots, and some weaker 3D shots (minimum blur separation) towards the end action scene surprisingly. For the most part though, very good 3D.

They did make Green Lantern 3D, which is a good movie, though the 3D is mild most of the time despite some better 3D shots here and there.
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows 2 has some really good 3D (medium to stronger) during certain scenes, though other scenes there is mild 3D if we just look at the blur separation (minimal separation). Great movie though and I'm not even a fan of Harry Potter. I will have to get around to DH Part 1, but heard the 3D isn't half as good as II. Your thoughts Mseeley? Thanks.
But yes, Prime Focus has redeemed their 3D efforts lately.

It has to be an active vs passive thing because I just checked it out on a passive set at local store and it was a night and day difference between what I previously thought.

Keeping in mind, Iron Man 3 3D is a hybrid conversion: Mix of CGI rendered 3D & 2D to 3D direct conversion.

Also keeping in mind, filmed 3D movies don't always measure up to strong 3D either. See Underworld Awakening's mostly mild filmed 3D, and Oz Great and Powerful 3D included as two examples. Along with The Amazing Spider Man 3D as a third.

On the other hand, filmed (native) 3D can shine with titles like Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, The Great Gatsby 3D, Avatar, Flying Swords of Dragon Gate 3D, Hugo, etc.

Same with great direct conversions like TItanic and Jurassic Park, and the more recent hybrid conversion of Pacific Rim 3D. Some conversions are so good, someone has to tell you it's a conversion to tell the difference in most cases.

Things have changed since Clash of the Titans' weaker 3D conversion thankfully.

Underworld and Oz I thought were reference quality 3d imo, with the edge maybe going to Oz. Oz had some of the best filmed 3d I've ever seen and I also think the amazing Spider-Man is horribly underated in 3d

Watched this over the weekends and have to say this is one of the top notch conversions!

10 times more satisfying than that of Worl war Z. I think this is even better than the inconsistent conversion done in startrek.

Your question is similar to "how do I play the BD movie".

You open the case and there is an instruction leaflet directing you to digitalcopyplus.

You put the code and you choose the provider.

And before you get worked up that no one answered you, it's because it's... fairly obvious that there would be instructions inside.

I am curious why would you ask a question about this if you have the Blu-ray?

PS. all this in a friendly manner
