I'm keeping a keen eye on 4K developments, natch, but if this were all I was going to get out of the TV I'd still be well chuffed* with it. 4K video (preferably BD) will be the gravy on top, though here in Britain-land we've got a while to wait for any kind of 4K delivery system. *translation: very happy |

It's a very nice conversion, perhaps not as good as Avengers because of the brightly lit all-action finale in New York which is a 3D showcase, but it's better than Star Trek. All IMO, of course. |

I can only speak on my two displays which is a Sony 46ex720 and Sharp 70LE847u which are both active and both had a decent amount of crosstalk. I played with my settings yet again and watched it on both sets and I would say it utilizes 3d pretty well. I personally wasnt entertained enough by the movie to watch it again in 2d but in 3d it's a lot more "fun" to watch. Maybe I'm using the term crosstalk too loosely but in certain scenes the background looks distorted, the best way I can describe it is that is looks almost like digital camp or something. Slight white shadows around the face is slightly distracting but not nearly as much as this distortion I'm speaking of. Again it could be because of my sets being active vs passive so ymmv. I also bought the xpand youniversal glasses so I am going to try adjusting the shutter delay on those to see if it makes a difference but for what it's worth I think some of the issue is the movie itself since other films in my collection have no crosstalk or background distortion at all. My Sony has color/tint, brightness/contrast adjusted by a disc and my Sharp just has brightness/contrast adjust by a disc also. All that to say that I would still recommend a 3d purchase

I own a passive 3D 55" LG Class TV. There was no crosstalk in Iron Man 3 on my display.

Finally got this after visiting a couple walmarts with empty 3D shelves. And yes, they had Iron Man 3 3D listed at 36.99$ but she priced checked it at the register and it sold for 24.99$. The last 2 copies at the store also. Thanks for the heads up for walmart.

Mixed reviews on the 3D I see. On both Active Sony Bravia and Passive Vizio 3D screens, Iron Man 3's 3D is a combination of medium to strong 3D, with some weak 3D here and there, and intentionally unconverted 2D TV news coverage in the movie. Strong 3D example in Iron Man 3: At 28:57 minutes into the movie, you'll see the following 3D shot: "Is someone gonna kill this guy?" asks the news reporter to Tony Stark. Pause the screen, then press down select to get rid of the progress indicator and it'll convert back to 3D. That shot, with Tony's face on the left side wearing his blue shades, blue shirt and black sweater, while the reporter on the right side is holding up his smartphone camera and the reports in the background against the brick wall is clear proof of strong 3D layer separation. Take off your glasses and the double image is off the charts strong. There are a number of these strong 3d shots in the movie, but yes, not as many as Pacific Rim's 3D, which is more consistent. Even so, I'm satisfied with Iron Man's 3D overall, and rate it as mostly medium 3D/very good 3D. Comparable with The Wolverine 3D. So is the 3D in Iron Man 3 3D worth it? For $24.99, heck yeah. Very nice and fun 3D experience. Vizio and Sony Bravia both give off bright 3D outputs. Could it have been a little more consistent. Yes. The ash explosion scene near the Chinese Theater with Jon Favreau also has some strong 3D, and the digital ashes look beautiful in strong 3D. Quote:

Thor 2 Dark World 3D is on the disc preview in 3D. The movie looks promising, but the 3D, average 3D at best in that preview if compared to Pacific Rim's stronger 3D. And even Iron Man 3's 3D. I hope this is only the case for the Thor 2 preview and the movie ends up with stronger 3D than what is shown. Blur separation is mild to medium in Thor 2's 3D trailer. And another great 3D scene? The attack on Stark's home base among others. Some strong 3D there confirmed by removing your glasses to check the strong blur separation. Last edited by Zivouhr; 09-26-2013 at 08:50 PM. |

I was able to get the 3D verison for 26.00 after tax at Walmart today. Apparently & Thankfully they are honoring that ad here. Although mine didnt come with the slipcover...which honestly i think is horrible. But thankfully there is a sorta easy solution to this problem. Either you can ask the clerk, if they are stupid enough, to allow you to switch the slipcover for another. Or, like me, you can purchase the other blu-ray with slipcover, then return it without the slipcover. Customer Service Assoicates have never gave me an issue when i return a blu-ray without one. I had to do this for Tron and The Avengers.

![]() Anyways I finally finished watching the 3D version at home and the conversion is just as good and even more dazzling than I remember. Sure it may not have a ton of popouts, but the 3D layering was strong throughout and looked absolutely kick*** and Stereo D again shows they are some of the best conversion studios in the industry (I'd still argue they are the best, but upon viewing the 3D in World War Z again, Prime Focus is quickly going neck and neck with them. As a 3D fan this kind of competition means I'm in for even more 3D eyegasms from these guys lmao ![]() Also I may be in the minority, but I thought Thor 2's 3D looked quite nice. It's surprisingly a little bit more low key looking compared to the past 2 Marvel 3D movies, but it still was very noticeable to me and it looked great imo and I'm soooooooooo ready to return to the world they've established with Thor in Nov.! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
