My expectations are within reason. This pandemic shouldn't gotten as bad as it has gotten right now, especially here in NY. I don't think this was ever handled correctly and if we ever do have a pandemic like this again (and I hope we don't), then I hope to God that we are better prepared next time...

Ok so you don't know or are lying to me. If China indeed locked everyone in without any ability to get food, then people would've died there at a massive rate from starvation. If you have no source to prove your claim, then please back off.

The best we can do TODAY & TOMORROW is stay home and stop the virus from spreading. We will have a pandemic like this again; it's just a matter of time. |

Mind you, I'm not getting political nor blaming any particular political leader. In fact, I blame ALL of them as none of them seem to really know what to do and just keep trying things out as time goes on. But as that time goes on, it becomes too late. For example, closing borders, social distancing, mandating face masks, closing schools, closing business, etc all should have been done IMMEDIATELY when this virus was first discovered in the U.S. Rather, they were implemented one by one starting last month when the virus was already starting to get out of hand. |

Since I don't expect "MrHT" to actually respond to my post with any real answers to my questions. I'll lay it out for him.
China imposed a full Draconian-esque lock-down of the Hubei province (mainly Wuhan) from January 23rd till April 8th. That's a period of 76 days. New York imposed a far from Draconian lock-down initiative called "Pause" on March 22nd. That was 25 days ago Yet somehow after literally 1/3rd of the length, and far less restrictive a lock-down, MrHT and others like him are expecting NY to start to open up now? If we really want to be like China, then we have at least another 50 days to go to match the length of their lock-down. I honestly don't understand why this has to be explained to anyone, but if he, or others sitll continue to compare what we're doing to China, as if it's anywhere close to the same timeframe, then I have to assume they're either trolling, or something else which I'd rather not say. |

NY has tested over a half million people now, which is more than most states combined, and most countries too, but it's still just a fraction of our population, so if we got the timing wrong and opened too much too soon we could have a worst 2nd wave than the first, especially with more people out and about for the Summer. With regards to NYC specifically, I firmly believe the subways are the biggest cause of our issues now, and probably from the start. It's hard to completely reduce the transmission rate when you still have crowded trains every day, even if they're supposedly filled with essential workers. Hopefully Cuomo's mandate to wear a mask is followed by more people that ride it, even if there's no sort of enforcement, or penalties involved with that ruling. |
