That makes little sense. I can see people coming at me so I can move out of the way. Same reason people are supposed to walk against the traffic, not with it. If they are coming up behind me, I may not even know they are right behind me.

Upon examining a wealth of existing research dating as far back as the 1950s, the authors of the paper explain that flushing a toilet that contains fecal matter can produce bioaerosols that remain in the air for an extended period of time. Much of the research suggests the material remains in the air for up 8 minutes after the toilet was flushed.

That's rather judgemental. Many don't have personal lives or friends. Many in here even admit to being loners. I would say most people who spend half of their time posting in forums all day have very little active social life, otherwise they would be spending their time with real friends doing real things, not posting on forums trying to prove points. I wouldn't call it pathetic as much as sad. Personally I have very few friends. But I have my girlfriend who is the most important thing to me. I don't feel the need to share things on Facebook with the world. But some people feel the need to have that social connection. Also, for some it may be a way to help get it out as they have nobody else to talk to. People are far too quick to judge, generalize and label.

Living in an old apartment building with less than ideal plumbing, this is terrifying to me. There was a story last week I read about people getting sick years ago in an apartment building, maybe in China, due to aerosols from the toilets moving up the pipes into other apartments, spreading the virus.

Ideally take-out in restaurants without a drive thru, would have online ordering and someone could bring it out to your car (and have them put it on your hood so you don't have to roll down the window).

Oh, and I make sure the food is hot food, to make sure the virus can't live on it. Something like a salad I wouldn't feel comfortable eating.
the potential risk of getting it from food is VERY low from all reports. that goes for cold food too. i got a salad last week and it was delicious granted, hot food is what i'll be getting 99% of the time. also, every restaurant ive been to is offering curbside. the 6ft barrier gets broken, but so be it.

i have no idea what type of stores everyone in here shops at, but the aisles are not nearly wide enough to have people walk by and remain 6 ft in my area. the point of the arrows, is that the person behind you is supposed to follow the rules and keep 6ft distance.

So with these new antibody tests it's showing that Covid-19 is really no more deadlier than the common flu.

For fu%*s sake, don't say that on here, the common flu is far less deadly, and already has a cure.

You're aware that people can still pass in an isle, even if they're all going in one direction, right? Because people are doing that all the time in the stores I've seen. If I get behind a slow person, or somebody taking their time comparing ingredients, I'm not supposed to just wait 6 feet behind them until they start moving. I can go by them.

I'm not sure where you are drawing that conclusion from. We don't have nearly enough facts and accurate statistics to make such a claim.

Do you see hospitals flooded to the breaking point with regular flu victims?

The one-way aisles does keep the occurrence of people crossing paths down. If I catch up to someone in front of me, I'll give them a few seconds to move ahead, but if they linger, then I won't hesitate to go by, assuming they are close to one side of the aisle or the other. Most of these aisles are less than 6 feet wide, so it's impossible not to get within 6 feet unless you just wait. But then a person behind you might not wait either, so what's the point. Besides, the purpose of the masks are having some protection when you can't avoid the 6 foot rule, and passing someone for 2 seconds is not a big deal.

This is why I get stuff delivered or do a click and collect, my local mini supermarket has no way of ensuring people keep the required distance, not unless they let two people in at a time, and even then there will be trouble in front of the sandwiches.

The only way to make people respect the required distance is to remove any chance of interaction. Most people just don't care.

haha, i totally agree with everything you both wrote. im just tellin ya what the intended purpose is.

but fact remains mar3o, if everyone is going in the same direction, there is less likelihood of crossing paths...

You say that now, but who knows what can happen?, I think you should nuclear suit up like Marty Mcfly.

The antibody tests are just showing the virus is not as deadly as what the stats are suggesting, but it's still a lot deadlier than the flu. As mentioned above the death rate would be .078%, which is about 8 times deadlier. But it's not only that, it's also 3 times more contagious, so without any mitigation measures, you would, (using the above figures: 8 x 3), have 24 times more deaths and perhaps even more hospitalizations.

But it's certainly good news that it's not nearly as deadly as first thought. I bet a bunch of us in this thread has had it without even knowing it. Would anyone be willing to take the antibody test? I'd be interested to know if I had it or not.

Honestly I'm not that worried about it for myself, but I live with someone quite vulnerable. But I agree that the odds of getting it while passing someone by 4 feet instead of the proper 6, is rather minuscule and not worth worrying about (especially wearing masks).

I do have a solution for you, if I do go have to go out I only exhale, this reduces the risk and you don't have to look like a bandit wearing a mask, the only drawback with my method is that last week I went out for some toilet roll, various canned foods, and some diet coke, but I came back with some washing powder and a black forest gateaux, but due to my oxygen confused state at the till, I thought I had bought all that other stuff.

But joking apart I think as long as you are sensible I think you will be o.k, but totally agree with you, the person you live with has to be looked after.
