Well, you said mail, so you got a paper check...hence why you never used Direct Deposit, cause they wouldn't have your info.

If I may piggy-back my post from earlier....found out my brother has been keeping a spreadsheet for cases in PA and his county, Montgomery. The data is from health.pa.gov, and it is updated every day at noon.

Montco is the third most populated county in PA (828k), and it borders Phialdelphia (1.5m). Here is a border graphic of southeastern PA for a visual representation of density:

Here are a couple screenshots of daily case data:

Breaking down new case data specific to Montco over the past four weeks...

Ending 4/04: 89 avg
Ending 4/11: 150 avg
Ensing 4/18: 107 avg
Up to 4/24: 119 avg

Per my prior post, the target for Montco with regards to reopening is 30 cases. Wow. I don't know what else to conclude other than, even considering the lockdowns and social distancing measures PA has ordered over the past 5+ weeks, there doesn't appear to be any trends in the numbers that suggest the Philadelphia region will be ready to open any time soon.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I don't have any data regarding frequency of testing. That could suggest the info isn't as bad as it looks.

Not sure if our neighbor was thinking of a bit of Porch Pirating earlier today, we had a few things delivered and left on our doorstep and he become awfully curious, I don't think he knew the delivery guy was still about ... when he saw him he legged it.

I can imagine with all the things now left on the doorstep in the UK, this might be on the increase.

We don't get a lot of stuff delivered, but I've been hoping to sort my PC out and the thought of some components going walkabout is upsetting.

I've never worked out why it's so popular in the US, I know messing with the mail is Federal crime, are couriered packages not under the same law?

I'm participating in a virtual running race today that was devised by a local race director to keep people having fun during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place.

It's called the Yeti Ultra 24 Hour Challenge. Participants have to run five miles every four hours over a 24-hour time period. We have to do the five miles every four hours and we cannot combine the miles into one run or anything of that sort. We can choose when and where we want to start the 24-hour challenge, but we have to observe social distance protocols by running alone and recording our run results via smartphone GPS apps or GPS watches. This will be six five-mile runs over 24 hours, totaling 30 miles.

I decided to start at 4:00 a.m. this morning, so that my sixth (and last) run will be at midnight tonight, and I will simply have a long long day instead of staying up for an entire night.

So far, I've done 20 miles, with 10 left to go...

April 25 @ 4:00 a.m. - 5.0 miles at a 9:39 minutes/mile average pace
April 25 @ 8:00 a.m. - 5.0 miles at a 8:33 minutes/mile average pace
April 25 @ 12:00 p.m. - 5.0 miles at a 8:25 minutes/mile average pace
April 25 @ 4:00 p.m. - 5.0 miles at a 8:10 minutes/mile average pace
April 25 @ 8:00 p.m. - ?
April 26 @ 12:00 a.m. - ?

My last two five-mile runs are going to be slower, because I'm running out of steam and that 8:10 pace for the fourth trek in the heat of the afternoon wiped me out. Fortunately, there are no stipulations on pace, so I can walk the last two runs if I want to.

There are hundreds of people doing this challenge, and it's fun to motivate one another on the big Facebook page for it, since folks have been doing it on their own schedule all month.

I'll get a cool T-shirt in the mail.

Yes, I know why/how I got a paper check, but I'm replying to your comments that I had to have made use of direct deposit to get one as early as I did, and that they only started sending paper checks yesterday.

I think that COVID-19 is way worse than the flu, and that is why I posted the above link, because it demonstrates how scientists are disproving that misconception that the flu is worse. The title of the above linked article speaks for itself.

In short, two recent studies about multitudes of people testing positive for COVID-19 antibodies, thus suggesting that the death rate is not as severe as expected, are flawed with their statistics. Those studies were not published in any official scientific media, and they were carried out with faulty reasoning.

Default Anyone else been stuck in one house 24/7 for 46 days

Just today realized its been 46 days since I last left my house for even 20 minutes the last place I went 46 day’s ago was Best Buy for 25 minutes other than that it’s been 49 days since I last went anywhere for more than an hour. For those keeping track that was the same day onward opened in theatres which was the last movie I saw in theatres.

We try to get out at least every 2 or 3 days. Same destinations: Dollar Tree, Walmart and Albertsons to buy food and snacks.

Now the proud owner of 10 four packs of TP Purchased 2 or 3 at a time.

The weather is going to change for the better starting Monday with highs in the mid 80s so I will go out and change the spark plugs on my car. Should take about 30 minutes as there are only 4 of them. Maybe even wash it by hand. Great exercise for me.

Wait! A new destination! Auto Zone!

I heard today that the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC) has recommended the requirement that people from all walks of life have to wear face masks on all modes of public transport within Europe. They must have followed the hard evidence from some of the laws implemented by federal & regional governments in Germany very recently. These governments had implemented laws to their populations that wearing surgical face masks on these essential services was recommended as a very safe way to minimize the spread of the virus. If people had refused to wear them on these services; they would be subjected to heavy fines for non-compliance.

JUST IN CASE YOU NEED IT EXPLAINED ONE MORE TIME:
You wake up with a terrible cough, a fever, and severe body aches. Immediately, you rush to the doctor. Unfortunately, you’re diagnosed with COVID-19. For the last two weeks, you’ve been unaware that you were infected. For the last two weeks, you’ve ignored "the rules," gotten together with some close friends for pizza, had a few people over, even visited some parks and beaches. You figured, “I don’t feel sick," and "I have the right to keep living my normal life!"
With your diagnosis, you spend the next few days at home on the couch, feeling pretty crappy; but then you’re well again because you’re young, healthy and strong. Lucky you.
But your best friend caught it from you during a visit to your house, and because she didn't know she was contagious, she visited her 82-year-old grandfather, who uses oxygen tanks daily to help him breathe because he has COPD and heart failure.
Now, he’s dead.
Your co-worker, who has asthma, caught it too, during your little pizza get-together. Now, he’s in the ICU, and he's spread it to a few others in his family, too--but they won't know that for another couple of weeks yet.
The cashier at the restaurant where you picked up the pizza carried the infection home to his wife, who has MS, which makes her immuno-suppressed. She’s not as lucky as you, so she’s admitted to the hospital because she’s having trouble breathing. She may need to be placed in a medically-induced coma and intubated; she may not get to say goodbye to her loved ones. She may die surrounded by machines, with no family at her bedside.
All because you couldn't stand the inconvenience of a mask; of staying home; of changing your familiar routines for just a little while.
#SocialDistancing = It’s not about YOU.

Ya, 43 days for me. Other than I have to run into work for a few hours every Sunday.

I do still go for morning walks however - usually 6-8km. Unlike almost everyone else, I'll literally cross the street to avoid having to walk past, or have someone walk (run) past me.

Meanwhile....south of the border...beaches are apparently packed. Writeup in The Guardian shows Huntington Beach full of people.
