Oh they do, usually between 11pm and 3pm when it's not rush hour. It's so much construction that just never ends.

Having said that, I do end up with smoother commutes on weekends. Many people tell me the opposite, but I don't know. It just seems like there's constant delays on weekdays during rush hour. But on weekends, if you can get past the service changes, it's usually pretty smooth for the most part with little to no delays.

My stimulus check was delivered by direct deposit but I still got one of those Trump letters in the mail. I thought it was just going out with the paper checks.

The IRS/Treasury is sending to everyone who they sent either a DD or a check a letter letting them know that they were sent money. So if you got/get a letter but no money you should know that.

I set up direct deposit but they're apparently sending me a check in the mail anyways... weird. Gets mailed out this Friday though, so that's cool.

And as usual none of those reasons describe my situation. Seriously, am I the only person in the country that qualified as a non-filer but wasn't aware of it so filed a paper return anyways in April? Because anybody who did that in my situation apparently will be waiting months for their check.

You would have had to wait for the paper check anyway. As a qualified non-filer, you'd actually be in the system as a so-called "zero-filer" (no payment due, no refund owed) and the electronic payment form on the IRS economic impact payment website throws an error when you submit the form. I was a zero filer.

The paper return you filed just means you were trying to submit the info (as told by media, newspapers, etc.) so you would get your stimulus check, but since they shut down paper returns it it wouldn't have changed the form of payment (paper check) that the IRS is giving out to "zero-filers".

Now if you had zero income at all (no form of gov't payments, no income at all, and obviously under the limit) or negative-income (it can happen with Schedule C business losses or Schedule D capital losses) there's the question of whether they would send a check. But I'm assuming you had some form of income that was under the filing requirement limit, right?

IIRC, you didn't file in 2018 (IRS checks 2018 and 2019).

Also, what electronic preparer did you use? Because I don't know of any major preparer (TurboTax, etc.) that recommends sending in a paper return, most just let you submit an electronic return even though you're not required to.

If you can't afford to pay your workers who were forced out of work then you must open the economy back up so as many of them who still have jobs to go back to can earn money. That way the unemployment insurance can be allocated to those who's jobs are permanently gone.

Time to open the economies of every state back up. If you're 50 or older, or if you are at risk then stay home. If you're scared to go back to work then stay home, but people need to get back to work.

Man these times are really trying. Growing frustrated with my parents. My dad is the biggest coward I know. He was talking to me about inhaling alcohol wipes and wiping his whole face and eyes with them because he thinks that can prevent catching it. My mom has food, but still wants to go wait an hour for groceries because she is so picky about her food. I feel like the parent now trying to talk some sense into them.
