Or anybody really. No one seems to come close except for our very own LordoftheRings. I'll take his estimate over anybody's, even the CDC.

Social Distancing

Strict adherence to CDC distancing guidelines, maintaining 6 feet of distance in all gym activities, and roping off or disabling equipment:
Gym capacity limited to a certain number of people, for example 5 people per 1,000 square feet if required by local mandates;
No contact training and no equipment sharing training sessions;
Social distancing signage and floor markers;
Enhanced Cleaning & Sanitation Protocols

Medical-grade cleaning products and hand sanitizers available throughout facility, and:
Require hand washing before and after workout;
Increase disinfectant stations with hand sanitizer available in lobby and throughout the facility whenever provisions are available; and
Pre-use and post-use wipe down protocol on all equipment, including office equipment and body comp scanners, as well as updating member processes to educate on cleaning and sanitation.
Detailed in-depth and frequent cleaning checklist:
Full facility will be cleaned thoroughly a minimum of every 2 hours with medical-grade product, including equipment and all surfaces during staffed hours; and
Bathrooms cleaned every hour during staffed hours.
Water fountains for refilling water bottles only.
No equipment sharing will be allowed.
Local Anytime Fitness Gym

Honestly? Sounds like most of the gym is still going to be closed when they re-open. Going to contact them and ask that I not be billed for May.

When I see garbage, left over food, unsorted plastics tossed into recycling containers in public places, I am not hopeful that diligent numbering on products/packaging will solve the problem. It still requires every individual to do their part.
We don't appear to have them here in the US sadly. Even that design isn't the easiest to read, and looks rather messy still. Better than nothing though.

Yup. I was just going to mention this, but you beat me to it. Sadly, much of what people recycle ends up in landfills anyways. Plenty of reading material online about this. Much of what gets sent in to recycle is not usable - wrong material, not cleaned properly, etc., and often the cost of processing it is so great it just gets dumped or shipped off to somewhere else where it ends up getting dumped.

Wow, that doesn't sound financially feasible at all. I guess the employees there will be spending all day cleaning and sanitizing.

I paused my membership in March (prepaid a year through September), but I stopped going in January because I invested in some equipment for a gym I have at work. The timing ended up to be perfect.

Eco-packs are terrible for the discs, though.

I'll see myself out.

Plastic is lighter than glass, thus making shipping costs less for shipping crates of them out. That's why so many have switched to plastic. It's nice that they don't shatter if dropped, and eliminates worrying about glass being cracked, but very bad for the environment of course.

There really needs to be a really strong anti-plastic movement, and not just token things like disposable shopping bags or straws, but packaging and products as well. But for that, people will need to accept that most things will cost more. I don't that happening until the problem is so bad that's it's too late (if it isn't too late now).

Pplastic makes sense for some things. Plastic blu-ray cases make sense as they protect your discs and act as storage, and are kept long-term - they aren't being thrown in the garbage (unless they're broken).

I buy board games and most companies seal them in a very thin plastic wrap. Some gamers want to see the companies stop that practice but it makes sense to seal them - almost all board games are manufactured in China and they ship via boat which takes about a month, and that means the cards and cardboard materials are exposed for up to 30+ days of moisture, which can and does result in warping of the materials inside (boards, cards, punchboards). The plastic wrap helps a lot in keeping the components safe from salt-water moisture.

But these awful hard plastic packages everything is sealed in offers no benefit. I have a few collectible action figures from Diamond select and they are packaged in those awful packages - there's no way to get the figures out without destroying the packaging, making it very difficult to store them back inside. I like to keep them in the package, but it's a nightmare trying to cut them open while not totally destroying them so I can put them back inside after checking them out.

obviously, you bought it and know its glass but they switched to plastic last summer i believe.

Says George, “The whole key of what we were trying to do is change the bottle in a way the consumer never noticed. We wanted them to see this bottle as the glass bottle, which took a lot of time and effort. But I think we were successful in that there are a lot of people who are still surprised it’s a plastic bottle.”
All I can tell you is I broke one last week when I threw it in the recycling can, it hit another bottle and the glass shattered.

i believe you, i still see the glass ones from time to time but majority are plastic now. and they look and kind of feel like glass except for the weight of the bottle.

the whole process is broken. to expect people to wash the containers to remove ALL food etc from it, not gonna happen. then i read that if there is any water in the bottles or whatever, those end up in the landfill.

no one is going to wash, dry etc. they need to figure out how they can wash, and dry and sort.

Looks like that "leaked" new forecast has resulted in lots of sensationalist articles, like this one from arstechnica, without any actual fact-checking:

https://arstechnica.com/science/2020...eaths-by-june/

Here's what Washington Post has to say about this document:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/healt...691_story.html

Quote:
The White House and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention disavowed the report, although the slides carry the CDC’s logo. The creator of the model said the numbers are unfinished projections shown to the CDC as a work in progress.
Quote:
He said he didn’t know how the update was turned into a slidedeck by government officials and shared with news organizations. The data was first reported by the New York Times.

“I had no role in the process by which that was presented and shown. This data was presented as an FYI to CDC … it was not in any way intended to be a forecast,” Lessler said.
This document appears to be based off older data before lockdowns and was not intended to be an actual forecast - it was only working data. A great example of how you have to be very careful what news you trust these days.
