Five months ago exactly to the day ...

Today the same preventive measures are sound to slow down the spreading.

I remember this WHO health scientist expert from Canada in one famous interview with a young Chinese journalist. He skipped a question in regards to Taiwan being a good example in helping to slow down the virus. I'm sure many of you here remember that interview as well.
This article above is a good informative read anyway, as many of us we are wondering what will it take to stop this unstoppable virus. I firmly believe also that we can only slow it down, the best we can do.
...And hope for a vaccine someday ...

I don't like to live in a world of hocus pocus magic illusions, I'm more a realistic person who adapt scientifically with facts to his environment. I'm trying my best to be down-to-earth as much as possible; about you, where do you fit?

Couple more older articles, still very relevant today ...

We don't have a vaccine, COVID-19 is spreading in many areas, in many countries, it is not going away even if it's less severe today in some countries, infected cases are growing each day, approaching the 200,000 mark daily and globally, people are dying each and every day by the thousands (3,500 today), you can be reinfected, the virus can resurface in places where it was under control before, it's not going away.
And it is nasty; it impairs and impacts a fair bunch in their lungs, etc.

I fully expect to get the virus at some point as it will stick around probably for along the time. Masks (at best) will postpone the inevitable. IMO.
There are people who are born either having it or having a severe genetic predisposition to getting diabetes.

Yeah, diabetes runs in my mom’s family. So far, I’ve been ok and never tested positive so far (knock on wood). But I’m just so scared that one day, I may end up with it since it just runs in my family.

Also I think the efficacy of masks is over-stated but unless they can test everyone, they are necessary. If there's a 1% chance you get CO-VID 19 but wearing a mask keeps you from spreading it to other people, isn't that chance worth taking? I hate masks. I think they're gross and they're hard to breathe in and they make it hard to do a lot of things. However if it saves another person's life, it's worth wearing them.

Heck it's worth wearing them just to go to work and get paid.

Exactly, especially if it means getting the economy back to normal. I’m happy things in NYC are starting to go back to normal. If it means wearing a mask to keep it that way, then sign me up!

Feeling drained today. Tired of being holed up at home and every time I log on to the Internet I'm getting bashed over the head with various agendas and pushed narratives.

Seems like everyone's forgotten about Covid. The media clearly has as they're now obsessed with either so and so being racist or so and so politician 'lying' again.

Ironic on a day when global deaths have passed 500,000. Based on the 1st six months of the year and the way daily numbers keep increasing - I'd guess a simple doubling to 20 million cases and 1 million deaths is likely come the end of the year.

Stocks are going to tank tomorrow...weather is crappy here...might need to watch some cat videos or something to cheer up.

My Mom lives in one of those but in Laval near Montreal and they are very very prudent, not taking chances, who's coming, and wearing masks of course.
She won't let my brother and his wife coming to visit. This is serious. My brother doesn't think so.
Most people living there are older and vulnerable retired people, like me (older and vulnerable).

What would happen if someone in the US was infected and had their commute details, down to the minute, posted to twitter and facebook?

I don't put much attention to the news, I like more sports.

But yeah, wearing a mask, keeping safe distancing, doing more testing, quarantining, taking preventive measures, arousing true awareness, keeping track, observing the intelligent rules, following good common sense, ...all to slow down this very nasty and invisible Coronavirus.

You probably read the news too the other day that China had another smaller outbreak from the wet markets? This will never stop, the wet markets are all over and without them a lot of people would die.
They need better control but it costs money to hire health controllers.

Anyway we are in it now and it's up to us to move forward in a safe and prosper way. ...The proper balance in the reality we're all in...all of us...7.8 billion. It starts everywhere, everyday.

If I'm still alive in three years I am certain that our world will be much different than it is today and what it was yesterday. If I'm not alive anymore then it don't matter to me but to the others who are...alive. ...Any age.

Different people different values, different countries different cultures, 7.8 billion hearts beating one universal human species. ...And all the other animal and lifeform species.

China is taking this virus seriously, very.
Other countries even more so, and some less.

Just wash them first, with good quality washing soap.
Then dry them outside in the sun for few days. That should be fine.
That's I do with mine, no matter where they are made.

An area of concern now among clinicians is if this thing ^ gets very bad nationally in terms of cumulative hospitalizations and impinges upon optimal treatment for those in the ICU, is that the supply of Remdesivir could become very limited due to shortages.

I had some blood work done recently and was told I didn't have antibodies, which means I never had the virus. A month ago I would've been happy to be cleared but now I'm a bit on edge because this means I'm at risk and have to keep taking precautions. My High Blood Pressure won't do me any favors, plus I've been getting sick with more frequent colds/stomach viruses lately, which could only mean my immune system is weakened. Let's get this vaccine invented, shall we?

What the heck? Not a very sanitary manufacturing process. I can't believe it's 2020 and we don't have a more sanitary, automated way of manufacturing these.
