Not sure of the exact %, nevertheless for those of you who have parents in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, don’t rule out the possibly of an FDA Emergency Use Authorization of a COVID-19 vaccine for a select group like that especially if in the fall and winter we see hospitalizations and deaths in high risk groups like that go up.

That would seem very likely indeed. The latter is probably more deadly for Covid, but the 50-69 group seems like a toss up.

It may be my imagination, but it seems the hospitalization rates are declining faster than cases are. At least here in California hospitalizations are at the lowest since April but cases have been holding steady the last several weeks. Probably due to having more and more people tested multiple times perhaps?

Did you see the chart I posted yesterday? It seems like they were stockpiling deaths from months ago and spreading them out over recent weeks.

No I did not. Wouldn't surprise me though. Deaths are a lagging stat and sometimes it take months and other times they'll reclassify as covid.

I think Lee posted something a while back saying that hospital are financially motivated to count deaths as covid even though it was from another cause.

Any chance I'll get to be back in the office before the end of this year? Or will I be working from home for the remainder of 2020? I'm starting to forget what all my colleagues look like.

Basically we can expect to return to the office once all this social distance nonsense ends. Since our office is small, we can't stay 6 feet apart and since we have work from home capability, we should stay at home.

I don't know about anyone else, but the year 2020 really sucked. Maybe for the rest of you, it has been a great year for you. But for me, it has been the worst...

My supervisor said when social distancing no longer applies. So when all of us get to take off our masks and no longer need to stay six feet away from each other, then we're free to return to the office. So that all depends on the outcome of the pandemic in the coming months.

Mate, I think unless you're one of the select few that have benefitted from a Worldwide Pandemic then 2020 has been and will continue to be a miserable shit-show.

Just stay safe, social distance and wear a mask.

Ask your boss if you can get everyone together on a video conference call once or twice a month, just so you can interact and have some face-time. It might boost your moral.

Yeah, maybe my guess would be when a vaccine is out. Maybe they'll require everyone to get vaccinated before returning to the office. But then again, can companies legally require employees to get vaccinated? Not sure about that one.

Yeah, that's what we've been doing. Sad that we have to resort to video conferencing just to see each other.

I think what bugs me the most about this crisis is that fact that I couldn't go away and travel. And I never really take long trips too. Just a few days to get a change of scenery. That's enough to relieve my stress and recharge my battery. It sucks that I couldn't do that this year and it's even a bigger bummer that I may not be able to do it next year either.

well, just to clarify, you actually can go away and travel. you are choosing not to do so, just sayin. if its that big a deal for you, then hop on a plane and go somewhere. there are also plenty of places you could go to within driving distance that maybe you wouldnt go to otherwise...

It will come. I'm not impatient.
In reference to NYC, I would hope that after yesterday’s sworn testimony by Dr. Fauci, referencing Dr. Redfield’s data, that people no longer subscribe to the notion that NYC’s decreased positivity rate can be attributed to them having developed enough herd immunity for their turnaround from their dark days of battling the pandemic.

I feel fortunate to be very busy at work in spite of the pandemic. Single family construction and remodeling work is booming, since people are working from home and looking to fix the place up. All my customers and vendors are overwhelmed. The pandemic has certainly changed the landscape, with people wanting more space and moving from the city to the suburbs (where I live).

I can barely keep up and it leaves me exhausted most of the time when I get home. Also leaves me less time to keep up with posting as much as I would like. I want to respond to many posts (such as the one above this one), but I just don't have the time. Most of you here probably prefer it that way anyway so it's all good.

I agree, with so much happening, it’s difficult to keep up with experts in the fields of medicine and public health. I’ve yet to find time to listen to today’s webinar and likely won’t for a couple days…https://www.facebook.com/43331696829...ll_videos_card

For those interested in volunteering for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial, based on the characteristics of the protocol I linked earlier on the last page with the aid of a professional in the field (my better-half ), I think this one would be especially good for giving a heads-up to one's parents/grandparents or older members (Lee Stewart?) here - https://www.niaid.nih.gov/news-event...-united-states

Good to hear. If I need any home improvement advice from an experienced general contractor, you’re da Man . If I were to add an enclosed patio (pre-fab sunroom, mostly windows) would that increase my property tax or would that be exempt?

The respective Advisory Committee met this week and had initially planned to vote on which priority groups should get a COVID-19 vaccine first, but they just didn’t have sufficient data from phase 3 clinical trials that are currently underway.

They now meet every month to discuss the issues around a COVID-19 vaccine, but as soon as a vaccine is FDA approved, the committee will have an emergency meeting to address any unresolved issues and finalize recommendations.
