2020 is going to be the worst year in our lifetime. But life will go on and it'll be a lesson for everybody.

Is this also due to economic factors?

I can’t be sure but many of the same cars were there after I got through the line at Target and CVS. Hooters I know I saw people eating on the wrap around

Snap out of it and quit being such a drama queen! We are all going through serious crapolla at the moment and none of us have got room for people doing a Sam Smith and going into meltdown in public! Things here in the UK are no easier than in the US, i have relatives living in NYC and they are just strapping things down and getting on with it!

Not entirely sure this is the best approach. Sam smith had a melt down?

What I'd like to know is how Germany has so few deaths.

Yes, Piers Morgan critiqued him for doing so telling him to get his shit together.

My approach may be harsh, but any form of drama aids us nought in order to deal with this crisis. Talk to friends or family, but focus on what needs to be done rather that the spiral of panic and hysteria.

As predicted, the number of #coronavirus cases in US is exploding with greater acceleration than *any* other country with this many cases. More #COVID19 testing is revealing the huge number of cases with more still to come.

Expect a MASSIVE surge thru the next few weeks.

"Get a grip, the lot of you. This is a war, not an Instagram story opportunity"

For once I agree with him. Sam Smith is just going to encourage unhelpful behaviour.

Coronavirus in N.Y.: ‘Deluge’ of Cases Begins Hitting Hospitals

Quote:
New York State’s long-feared surge of coronavirus cases has begun, thrusting the medical system toward a crisis point.

In a startlingly quick ascent, officials reported on Friday that the state was closing in on 8,000 positive tests, about half the cases in the country. The number was 10 times higher than what was reported earlier in the week.

In the Bronx, doctors at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center say they have only a few remaining ventilators for patients who need them to breathe. In Brooklyn, doctors at Kings County Hospital Center say they are so low on supplies that they are reusing masks for up to a week, slathering them with hand sanitizer between shifts.

Some of the jump in New York’s cases can be traced to significantly increased testing, which the state began this week. But the escalation, and the response, could offer other states a glimpse of what might be in store if the virus continues to spread. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Friday urged residents to stay indoors and ordered nonessential businesses to keep workers home.

State officials have projected that the number of coronavirus cases in New York will peak in early May. Both the governor and Mayor Bill de Blasio have used wartime metaphors and analogies to paint a grim picture of what to expect. Officials have said the state would need to double its available hospital beds to 100,000 and could be short as many as 25,000 ventilators.

I think that is well established - it's this strain that is the problem. You may need to educate yourself on this before disparaging others.

This strain is completely new. If you can look at what's happening in Italy, and still say that people are overreacting, then I don't know what to tell you.

Seems like there's good reason to be "overreacting" if you ask me.

Just try to take it easy and stay occupied doing other things other than watching the news and following COVID-19 related topics. Call/Facetime friends to help pass the time as we are all in this together.

Know that sometime this will all end and we will be back to our daily lives and routines-which we will never take for granted again. We will all come out stronger after this.
