But I bet my barber needs to cut hair to survive.

Seriously, my barber runs a one-man barbershop. He owns the business and supports his wife and kids with the money. I feel so sorry for the guy. He must have it real tough right now.

It depends on the person. That's the issue with the virus. It varies from person to person.

Either way, after this event, our world will be different.

While this plays out, we can enjoy one or more of Mr. Hanks movies.

This article helps to clarify the lung damage issue more clearly.

Apparently, if having COVID-19 leads an individual into ARDS, then you start looking at actual damage to their lungs.

Friend posted their truck for sale in Los Angeles.

But you gotta do what you gotta do. Basic needs (food, water, shelter, lights) vs f' everything else. Still heartbreaking to see.

will – not necessarily

but organ damage can occur, see ground glass opacities (infiltrates) – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post17433778

as in SARS, which showed similar lung imaging abnormalities, long term studies are needed to determine the degree of permanent impaired lung function - https://www.nature.com/articles/s414...7-2b51011a2f9a

Crowds packed California beaches despite shelter in place order. People are seen on the beach on March 21, 2020 in Huntington Beach, California.

Honestly I hope Jersey is next. People aren’t taking it seriously enough here.

Absolutely the LAST place that such behavior should be happening at today...

I myself living in a less dense populated area, while I take all precautions with this, am worried more about the fallout that will happen with this. I currently go into work earlier to be home early to take care of my daughter who is without daycare for who knows how long. Small office at work, only a few of us there so social distancing has always been a thing there, have my own bathroom etc. I still go out for jogs after work and really like that slice of normalcy in my life right now, I always run along roads and never encounter many people even before this pandemic.

Had to go grocery shopping yesterday, went shortly after opening to a local market, not walmart... very few people there. Keep gloves and sanitizer in my car at all times. with testing happening more, the trend of positive cases will continue to rise for the foreseeable future

It's official: the homeless now outnumber everyone else on the streets. At least in the areas surrounding my job.

I think if Governments want to REALLY restrict people from traveling freely in and around city centers they'll need to shut down public transportation. It's the only way. I was able to travel from Newark to NYC without a cop even so much as looking my way. The way Cuomo spoke, it sounded like he would arrest anyone found walking around. I half expected to encounter soldiers who would turn me around while keeping their hands on their weapons.

It's a double-edged sword. Thousands of healthcare workers rely on the MTA to get to work. Without them the hospitals would grind to a halt. It's only supposed to be essential workers on the train, but I highly doubt that's what's happening

Having N95 masks to wear indoors, especially in crowded subway cars, will go a long way in helping to stop the spread. I wonder how it will be before they are freely available again.

To the public? Probably not for a long time. Healthcare workers need them desperately, and while there is a huge effort to ramp up production, and secure many more, it still won't meet their goals. This is why some places like NYC are forced to only do testing for those that are hospitalized, there's simply not enough PPE for them to burn through for everyone coming in symptomatic.

Apparently some place (in Seattle I think) the government was made aware that a Target had N95's in stock, and they reached out to Target corporate and secured them for hospitals. Regular people hoarding masks are costing lives, both of patients, and the healthcare workers that care for them.

Even regular masks can help stop the spread though. If an asymptomatic carrier is wearing just a regular surgical mask they cut down significantly on spreading it to others. No N95 needed there. If non-infected also wore one, then the odds of transmission drop down even further. But even surgical masks are in short supply to the general public.

Well looks like my daughter's school is pushing for mandatory homeschool through June due to the out break. Of course my wife & I still have jobs we have to go to (essential & can't work from home) so I dunno where this leaves us.
