I do believe based on the measures we've taken here that the amount of cases will start to drop in a few weeks, but it's going to be a horrific and ugly few weeks with hundreds dying daily, and a hospital system potentially overrun (which leads to even ore needless deaths). If more people here also followed the guidelines and stayed the hell inside we'd also be better off now too. |

I can see perhaps closing off the single track, but pedestrian park access to roads? That's pretty unreasonable if true.

I will be honoring the closure and avoiding the park, although I could easily run undetected from my front door to one of the wooded trails. First of all, I do not want to set a bad example for others. Second of all, it is a Federal park, and, if I am cited for being on the premises under these present circumstances, then there's a clear possibility that I could be charged for public endangerment or something equally serious. |

If you end up overwhelming hospital systems well beyond capacity & they are unable to manage the situation, & healthcare professionals & workers, & police & fire become infected & sickened as well, what then? Add to that to an already existing shortage of essential medical supplies & we'll end up with a shortage of doctors, nurses & other healthcare workers, & police & fire because of sickness. It's possible that people start dying in alarmingly, increasing numbers from not only from COVID-19, but other conditions unrelated to COVID-19 because of the healthcare system being unable to treat those conditions as well, due to being overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases, & a shortage of supplies & healthcare professionals & other workers. As a result, healthcare costs skyrocket, along with skyrocketing pharmaceutical costs. By hey, at least you'll have a job, but for how long?

It's China specifically reporting now new infections from domestic cases and just foreign visiting returns showing signs of the virus. Which honestly does imo beg the question how it's simply died off with the current measures of a simple lockdown but time will tell. As for science debunking the "tell tale signs" of it being manipulated. Get good enough at something, it can be made to look authentic even under a microscope. Also as for China hurting. Economically China is the best placed globally to take advantage when things improve again. I've read BBC articles also stating their position to specifically sell off medical supplies manufactured there such as masks etc. necessary in such a crisis. I'm sure some won't care and by and large i guess i don't like the majority but i find it very fascinating when you look at all these competing global agendas and ideologies with their propaganda machines working 24/7. Its like the best espionage type of content from movies in real life. |

I was not asked to, but I removed the video because of the additional commentary by the poster of the video. I'm unable to find a vid of just Lt. Governor Dan Patrick's comments without additional commentary. Last edited by BucketheadPikes; 03-24-2020 at 05:44 PM. |

that also doesnt mean "screw the elderly etc". measures should be in place for them to shelter still along with anyone who will be in contact with them. there are just so many different approaches that can be taken moving forwawrd that arent being considered. why not keep "hot spot" areas on lockdown and slowly open up society to areas much less affected while still practicing social distancing practices. keep the ban on large gatherings etc.. this is not a black and white issue by any means. all ideas should be given thought and analysis as well as what a collapse of economy really means, how many lives will be lost from that alone? |

Access to medicines.
Access to utilities. Access to jobs which leads to less/no money which leads to no food, no housing and no meds. Our economy was cyclical. It never used to be full dependent on itself and now it is. As this virus shows, one "small" thing can disrupt it and make it come tumbling down. |

The shelter in place rules need to be in place until we flatten the curve AND that there are enough ICU units and respirators for those that need them. That will depend on the area. I think that will happen in the next several weeks, and then non-essential business will reopen but with continued large gathering restrictions and other social distance measures being maintained, probably until next year when a vaccine is available.
We need to buy time so that essential medical supplies such as masks can catch up to demand and when that happens we can have a semi-normal society without shutting the economy down. But in the meantime there will be no sacrificing the elderly and it's much more than that. Having millions infected will mean many more mutations, making an effective vaccine for them next to impossible. |
