Wow. These are the words of a complete sociopath. This is how much life matters to some of our leaders. Not trying to be political here. Just stating facts. I'm sure older people and their families would really appreciate the sacrifice he is willing to allow them to make to save our companies.

New England Journal of Medicine: Aerosol and Surface Stability of SARS-CoV-2 as Compared with SARS-CoV-1

for some reason link didn't work right, copy and paste:
Code:
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2004973
Study on how long this coronavirus version stays in the air and on surfaces. Most of the surface information reported in the news and whatnot has been accurate.

But the aerosol reporting is quite concerning. Particles have been detected for up to 3 hours... that's insane and very similar to influenza.

that also doesnt mean "screw the elderly etc". measures should be in place for them to shelter still along with anyone who will be in contact with them. there are just so many different approaches that can be taken moving forwawrd that arent being considered. why not keep "hot spot" areas on lockdown and slowly open up society to areas much less affected while still practicing social distancing practices. keep the ban on large gatherings etc..

this is not a black and white issue by any means. all ideas should be given thought and analysis as well as what a collapse of economy really means, how many lives will be lost from that alone?
What do you think is going to happen to the economy if everyone just goes back to work next week, the pandemic is allowed to sweep through the country and infect half the population? Do you think things will then be "business as usual"? Tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, or possibly even millions could die, or at least suffer lung damage, stores and offices will be threadbare as people stay home with the illness (or go to work sick if it's mild/moderate and infect even more people), and the economy will be in tatters anyways. Hospitals will be overrun (as they are now), and people who aren't even infected will risk death because the hospitals and staff will be overrun by those infected. Now is not a good time to suffer a heart attack. My girlfriend's dad had chest pains last week and was brought to the hospital, and his own wife was not allowed into the hospital. She had to wait outside in the parking lot. Thankfully it was just a stress attack, but the point is hospitals are already overrun, and some of you want to just let the virus "run it's course" and sweep through the nation?

I mean, he removes his mask, moves his fingers into his mouth to get them wet, and then wipes his saliva all over the pole repeatedly. I think his actions make it obvious what he's doing.

i have not said to "just let it run wild". i am saying we cannot have a complete collapse of economy and we need to address BOTH situations somehow reasonably. not one at the expense of the other. temporary shutdown is fine and the hope is to flatten the curve. if that happens, great. if not, we're looking at martial law and if you think youve seen panic now, just wait until that is enacted.

Or it could be a prank made in the hopes of going viral like so many other idiots are doing? The person just happened to be filming already with him perfectly in frame before he even did anything? And the person filming isn't intervening whatsoever either? Come on.. This was on March 9th by the way, when Belgium had about 200 confirmed cases across the entire country. Obviously it could and likely would be more than that, but I have strong doubts that he was among that very small group of people infected. Regardless, he was arrested for it.

Talk about a political misstep. Republicans have a greater share of elderly voters and he's ready to throw them into the pit?

depending on the laws of the place etc, this could be construed as an act of terrorism and at the least inciting a public panic. In times of Emergency this can actually be a really quick verdict or back buck burner until the Emergency blows over - and I doubt jail would be a healthy place

True enough. It could have been a prank. Anyone willing to pull a prank like that at the very least deserves a good slap in the head. Glad he was arrested.

That is not an unreasonable hope. These days, three weeks is a long time. Hopefully restrictions can be eased in most places by then, at least allowing some non-essential business to reopen.

“We have a very active flu season, more active than most. It’s looking like it’s heading to 50,000 or more deaths — deaths, not cases. 50,000 deaths — which is, that’s a lot. And you look at automobile accidents, which are far greater than any numbers we’re talking about. That doesn’t mean we’re going to tell everybody no more driving of cars. So we have to do things to get our country open.” - Trump (3-23-20)

How about instead of setting a date based on a holiday (as if the virus is paying attention to when Easter is this year), we take it week by week and carefully consider the situation and the possible repercussions of getting people back out for Easter?

It's wishful thinking & unwise imo. We could quite possibly be on the verge of a total disaster. It remains to be seen, so we'll see.

Don't count on it. I would bet it's going to get a lot worse in the next 4 weeks.
