I've said it before, but if Kmart and Shopko held on for another year, they'd have tons of business.
Well I can tell you from experience that Dollar Tree has no TP. Went to 4 stores today. All were sold out.

Drinking and driving, drug overdose, suicides, etc. prob have higher death rates.

Dollar Tree is prob the worst dollar store because they only carry items that are $1. Dollar General and Family Dollar carry items up to $20 so they should have TP in stock.

Relief package billions can't buy hospitals out of shortages

Quote:
The billions of tax dollars headed for hospitals and states as part of the $2.2 trillion coronavirus response bill won't fix the problem facing doctors and nurses: a critical shortage of protective gowns, gloves and masks.

The problem isn't a lack of money, experts say. It's that there's not enough of those supplies available to buy. What's more, the crisis has revealed a fragmented procurement system now descending into chaos just as demand soars, The Associated Press has found.

Hospitals, state governments and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are left bidding against each other and driving up prices.

However, Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove told the BBC this morning “I can’t make an accurate prediction, but everyone does have to prepare for a significant period when these measures are still in place.” And later during the Government’s daily update Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Harries said it could be six months or longer before the country gets back to normal, with reviews of lockdown measures every three weeks. So whilst no announcement has yet been made, it’s very likely we will still be on lockdown in May. The PM has also confirmed tougher lockdown measures may be necessary.
I swear to God it was literally the first update that came up on the Guardian website this morning when I logged on because I read it and threw my phone across the room and had a swearing fit.

I just looked at my phone and it was still open on the page and the article was 'updated' 7 minutes later with what you have written above in its place.

So you're right...this time...

This is like some "rapture-level" incedent.

I mean, people are contacting it an surviving it with no issues. Some are dying in two days with no symptoms at all. It seems it's wired into a person's DNA how they're going to react to it.

Yeah the relief package is really hush money to make it look like government cares about the working class during this crisis. "Take your $1200 and shut up".

Patients in the UK dying now were infected around a month ago, weeks before the country started social distancing, an expert has warned.

Professor James Naismith, director of the Rosalind Franklin Institute at the University of Oxford, spoke out after a further 209 people died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK.

Although this is a lower number than the 260 deaths the previous day, he warned it is too early to draw conclusions, underlining that “daily numbers can be lower (or higher) than expected due to random factors”.

Prof Naismnith said: “I am confident that provided we follow social distancing the increase in deaths will stop and this will be followed by a decrease in the daily numbers.

“It can take up to two weeks from infection to onset of symptoms. For over 80% of people these symptoms are mild, for the much smaller number who develop the most serious illness, intensive care is needed around 10 days later.

“For those who do not recover but die, data from China suggests this takes around another four days. The tragic deaths today will be from people infected roughly a month ago. It is inevitable that there will be more tragedies for families ahead.

“We can reduce the final death toll only by following current Government advice. We must expect and welcome changes in Government advice as science, medicine and social science work together to learn more.”

I've been home for 3 weeks now and haaaaate it. I don't want the virus, but I know there's a 50/50 chance I'll get it. All it takes is me going to the store to get a few necessities.
Most moronic thing I've read in a while. You are the kind of selfish people who are making this situation worse. You must be from generation, I don't give a shit about anyone but myself.

What is the average wage there for the working class?

I mean the real one not the usually grossly inflated 'National Average'.

He would change his tune quickly if he or someone he knew got it. People always talk big, but then completely change when something affects them personally.

That's an odd and inaccurate stat solely based on the 237 that died over the last 24 hours. The number of deaths per day will vary. It may go up, or down, there is no predictive value here as there's no definitive timetable of how long someone will stay on a ventilator.

There's way too many people who think like that, and sadly, that's only going to result in more people dying and the healthcare systems being even more overwhelmed, with many more nurses and doctors running the risk of becoming infected themselves.
