So now that everyone out and about, those few people that still have the virus will spread it again. And then we'll be back to square one.

The thing is, this virus is so highly contagious and not even the warm, humid weather can get rid of it. So it can never completely go away and will keep on spreading. It's not until you vaccinate people when you can finally put a stop to the spread.
Exactly. The virus goes away when the majority of the planet has been infected.

"But one expert, a chemical biology professor and bioweapons expert at Rutgers University, has suggested to several media outlets that the lab-accident theory has credence."

That's what I believe...open to other possibilities, but my gut tells me this is the truth.

This is why I get wigged out by people socializing even 20 or so feet apart from each other...are you upwind or down? what if the wind is constantly changing direction? etc.

Once we're finally all past this, I think the best job security is psychologists/therapists. Seriously. There's a ton of people who will need therapy/somebody to talk to after all this is over. Doctors, those who lost friends/family members, and many that just built up a ton of anxiety through this whole ordeal, being afraid to go out, being cooped up for weeks, those who had anxiety over their job/finances.

Many people are going to be feeling this for a long time.

Barbers and hairdressers. Not just to clean up the furry mess that’s unfolding before our eyes, but also to serve as someone to talk to and listen.

Speaking of which, I have clippers arriving (hopefully) this week. Thankfully, I keep my hairstyle very short anyway, but I'm expecting to butcher it up enough to just eventually straight-buzz it all-around.

I'm kind of amazed that some musical events are still going ahead, and even so, i'm just not thinking that attending a music festival in Ireland in June is going to be a good idea. Also sending out thoughts and hope for Boris to pull through right now, we really need him.

I wish him well too, but no we don’t “really need” him. Not to be dismissive, and more in the spirit of reassurance, but we are being guided by science, and it is that which is driving policy, not politics or any one individual. The government’s response to the crisis isn’t crumbling without him and everyone in the cabinet is on the same page. But I will reiterate, I do wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is able to return to work at the right time.

Something I was wondering;

Family ties are very important and strong in Italy. It's part of their culture; children tend to live at home with their parents until they get married. The social cohesion is strong, people look after each other.

In Northern-Europe, the culture is much different. People are more distant, children don't tend to stay at home long, social cohesion isn't as strong (this is a grave understatement), and the elderly are lonelier.

Is anyone checking on the elderly who have nobody left? It's possible the situation is much worse in Northern-Europe, but we simply don't know (yet) because nobody has bothered to check on the lonely elderly...

I hope he will, but it'd be just our ****ing luck that we get some political stability for the first time in years - regardless of our politics, regardless of what we think of Boris, an 80-seat win at a general election is a definitive margin and a clear mandate for the winners - and then Boris carks it, leading to Raab taking over and a potential power struggle down the line, both within the party and the opposition agitating for this "non-elected PM" to go the polls to prove he or she still has the mandate that Boris acquired.

My point being, we need all that going on during the coming months and years while the wreckage of the economy is salvaged like we need a ****ing hole in the head.
I did write a lengthy reply but I was victim of the 11am cut off that I and a few other members suffer from on this forum (didn’t realise I was so close to 11 am when I wrote it)
I will just say I agree with you.

Off to work now, keep safe everyone.

Not sure about elsewhere, but in the UK voluntary local groups have been set up to do just that, as well as to provide food and other essentials, or even to call them regularly on the phone for chats.

I think if local authorities have asked the public to do something in a crisis then we should do our best to follow those guidelines.

Like others have mentioned, driving alone can cause accidents, some people are actually unaccustomed to it and in some circumstances (some people wander on roads without lines), an accident means emergency services, both risking the spread of the virus and taking away much needed personnel.

It's funny people mention mental health issue after a few weeks in-doors, but there are millions of people that where isolated before this crisis and will remain isolated afterwards and a large number of them are ignored.

Please don't think I'm having a go at anyone, but fit and healthy people seem to have gone a little nutty after a couple of weeks, are they now empathizing with shut-ins, some have been alone for years?

A man has been fined after he was caught speeding at 110mph on the motorway and told police he had been to London to buy bread. The man was stopped by officers at about 10:40pm on Sunday travelling to Nottingham northbound on the M1. They said he had been in the car with his two young children and claimed bread in London was £1 cheaper. Leicestershire Police said the man was handed two fixed penalty notices and reported to court for the speeding.
