Many more people may have been infected with coronavirus and acquired immunity than previously thought, according to a groundbreaking study in Germany.
Scientists studying the town at the epicentre of the country's first major outbreak said they had found antibodies to the virus in people who had shown no symptoms and were not previously thought to have been infected. Initial results released on Thursday suggest that as many as 15 per cent of people in Gangelt, in Heinsberg district, may already have immunity – three times as many as previous estimates. The findings suggest the mortality rate for the virus in Germany is just 0.37 per cent — five times lower than current estimates. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/202...-german-study/ |

If the moderator wants to moderate that's all fine; there's a balance, good common sense, and if one person knows where this balance is, more power to that.

It was on a 7 day boat trip through the Exuma's that I had my worst accident. We were diving 5, 6 times a day. You have to clear your eustachian tubes (by holding your nose and blowing) on your way down. They will automatically clear on the way back up if everything is working. If you can't clear them on the way down (that's call a block) you can't dive. In my case I was on my second night dive of the last day and had been building mucus up in my tubes. Being young, (33) over confident and foolish, I pushed myself for the second night dive which was at 65 feet. When I started up, at 40 feet my ears weren't clearing (called a reverse block). So here I am at 40 feet with about 500 psi. of air left and I can't clear my ears. I tried everything including removing my mask and trying to blow my nose underwater. Finally I had to make a decision; wreck my hearing or run out of air and drown. Was totally deaf for 24 hours (with a massive headache) then finally my ears "popped" and the block cleared. Left ear was fine but the right eardrum had partially ruptured. When it finally healed I had lost 50% of my hearing in the right ear. Didn't stop me from diving but it made me a lot more cautious on multiple dive boat trips. I believe the same thing happened to actor Steve McQueen only his loss of hearing was greater. |

That's what I'm saying. This guy likes to just pick arguments with me and it's very annoying. Everything is out of stock on my end and he just contradicts without sending a link to whatever product is supposedly "in stock."

For the most part the critically ill patients being seen in thee O.C. (and, for that matter, my sister-in-law hospitalized in Chicago) have clinically acted in hospital like typical ARDS patients (hypoxia and low compliance), so there has been no need to adjust traditional ventilation strategies. Perhaps in locales like New York City and parts of Italy where they’re treating a massive number of patients, they are experiencing a variety of presentations. My greatest fear is that some politician with no medical background will take interviews like that as an excuse so as to take their foot off the gas and not encourage businesses to manufacture as many ventilators as quickly as possible for the country especially if people become complacent with social distancing, hand washing, etc. and we see a 2nd and 3rd wave as the result. |
