The article your referring to was the Stanford one which was basically 100 people getting an antibody test that was advertised on Facebook. If the numbers from that study held up and we are that far off on the number of people who had corona virus then like 120% of new York has had corona virus.

The study had a lot of problems that could generate errors and doesn't match up with anything we have seen with how it spread or the mortality rates in more concentrated areas. Also the sample was not properly made as it was not really random and the sample size was to small.

The end result is basically 2.5% of santa clara might have the corona virus +- 3% making the whole paper worthless as a best case.

Plus most people scoff at social distancing because they care more about doing whatever it is that they want than protecting themselves or others.

Reminds me of my supervisor for some reason feeling the need to touch my back while I was picking up my weekly meal from work.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but let the ramifications of this sink in for a moment.

Less than half of L.A. County residents still have jobs amid coronavirus crisis

Yeah there seem to be two factions. Those that care that people are not working and those who are just counting their government checks.

I think it's more so many people now know their jobs are worthless in the overall state of how we run as a society, and they want to go back to work before smarter people realize those jobs could end for good.

And that those people would have to get a hard working/low paying job instead...most of which are still working out there in the sick.

I mean all those people crying about wanting to go back to work....last I checked, Walmart and every fast food place are hiring. If you really want to work that bad, no one is stopping you.

That was done because all the residents on the border states crossed over to buy their booze when PA shut down all liquor stores. Then the border states required an ID from their state so PA residents were shut out.

I guess PA finally realized their order was too draconian and recapitulated.

PA has a long history of strange liquor laws. Beer distributors have actually been open the whole time.

They never closed here in Wisconsin, not that drinking is essential, but they fear with so many drunks here, they may go into some kind of shock if their bodies can't get their hooch.

Pretty pathetic no?

Yeah! Think about all those worthless airline pilots, cabin attendents and baggage handlers.

If you worked as a server or a bartender at a restaurant and were laid off, I am sure you would much rather collect unemployment insurance and wait out the lockdown than go to work at Walmart as a stock boy.

Here in NM they closed the liquor stores but grocery stores and gas stations sell wine, beer and hard liquor. Just walk right in and buy what you need.

That's the problem with these shut downs. The will unintentionally put business's out of business.

As in South Korea...more than 200 'recovered' people re-infected.

What if there will never be a virus. What if you keep getting re-infected over and over again.

Time to check out of this sinking ship...

No flights are happening right now? News to me.

Also, I've worked at both Wal-Mart and as a server. They both suck...but if working is that important to a person, then their ass should go get a new temp job. No one is forcing people to sit home on unemployment. It's their choice.

Over 90% of all flights have been cancelled which means 90% of the workers aren't working

They want their prior lives back. They don't want to make drastic changes. That's human nature and you can't blame them for that.

That's the problem. This could have been all over by now if people would've just done what they were supposed to. But nope, because of people not listening, we're in a bigger hole that we may never get out of unless we come up with a vaccine.

That's the thing. What if there never is an effective vaccine? How many time in a year have you had a cold - now what if in any given year you have a 50% of dying the next time tyou get a cold?

Well supposedly, they have one now, but it's in the testing phase and the testing takes months, which why it won't be ready until 12-18 months. I guess there's a chance that it could fail during the testing and then it's back to square one.

Absurd. My girlfriend has a professional job and makes pretty decent pay. Right now she works from home but had her hours cut from 40 to 25 which is pretty devastating and she's worried sick. The company had been laying many people off for the past few months already and now this. So you're saying she should just go work at McDonalds or Wal-Mart and expose herself to getting infected, and throw away her career while she's at it?

People want their life back, as it was, not throw away their career to work at fast food.

Yeah, I think Cuomo needs to knock it off with the personal attacks and focus more on stopping this spread. I'm not trying to get political here; in fact, I'm saying we need to stop the politics. Lets focus more on ending this pandemic rather than starting a political battle.
