Milk delivery mainly stopped when refrigerators become commonplace in the 60's and 70's. You didn't need to have fresh milk every day. So that, along with advances in milk preservation techniques that made it cheaper to buy in the store, the demand for milk delivery disappeared.

You can still pay for milk to be delivered in some places (there was a popular British company recently) but it costs much more than the supermarket. Probably only worth it for raw milk. |

my neighbors have milk delivered to their home - and I live in a large urban city ... I don't "drink" milk but that's an entirely different topic of discussion.

Honestly though I don't quite get the appeal of drinking milk these days (but I still love butter and cheese so I could not be a vegan). I shift around trying different milk substitutes like almond or oat or hemp milk - whatever has an unsweetened vanilla variety. One I've discovered more recently is Ripple milk - plant based and high in protein. They have a turmeric flavor and it's so good. But right now I just have some almond milk, but I also have some turmeric and… I could…make my own turmeric drink hold on imma be right back

I like almond, cashew, and coconut milks (unsweetened ones). I'll drink cow milk, but it's not my favorite. I don't really drink milk straight up much though, just have it with cereal, or in a protein shake mostly. I'd probably buy the vanilla varieties more often, but since I also use it to make mac and cheese, that's not a good choice. I once made mac and cheese with vanilla almond milk without realizing it, and it was...not good

I guess my milk aversion is just some psychological quirk, because I'll drink a bottled or canned coffee drink that I forget is practically like chocolate-milk consistency without even thinking about it. And yet, even in cereal, ugh that seems like too much cow milk to me. *craves frappuccino bottle*
Turmeric almond milk update: It didn't taste as amazing as I wanted it to! And I'd need to blend it to have it dissolve and disperse well enough. |

For many people, meat is an important part of their diet, and likely their primary source of iron. I'd call meat essential for many Americans. |

Great to see crowds on the street again. Normally, I hate heavy traffic but my regular "Route 90 traffic jam" is now very comforting.
We are going to need to start phasing out this social distancing nonsense. I was at the mall yesterday for it's reopening. Only about 50 of the 200 stores were open but the place was busy. Even the mall manager said he was surprised by the crowds. But some people were forced to line-up for stores inside the mall. As more stores open, social distancing isn't going to work (as if it ever did). This lining up to shop is crazy and pointless. This isn't Berlin in 1946. I'm glad to see that more and more people are ignoring social distancing. The government has been stupid wrong on every prediction and it's up to the people to take the lead. We've punched some big holes in social distancing and there is hope that it will soon collapse. I'm confident the government will be forced to bend to the will of the people as we take back our freedom. |
