It's gonna be a tough slog this Summer if we still have to wear masks through heat and humidity. Let's get that vaccine ready, shall we.

I don't really care what the media says, I, personally, think this virus will subside once warm weather hits. The humidity and UV rays should kill it, if not, at least slow the spread considerably. The thing is, it's taking so damn long for warm weather to hit us and stay that way. It's May 9th and it's freakin' 40 degrees in NY today! Can we get consistent 80-90 degree temperature so we can kill this virus?

Here's chart from a study done recently, that estimates the probability of transmission from the 4 main sources: pre-symptomatic, symptomatic, environmental (from surfaces or anything other than another person) and asymptomatic.

These are just their estimates, but the odds break down as follows.

pre-symtomatic: 45%

symtomatic: 40%

environmental: 10%

asymptomatic: 5%

Surprising to see that getting it from touching surfaces is only 10% of all transmission, and people that are asymptomatic comprise of only 5%.

Actually, I think I'm the only one here that thinks barbers and salons are essential. I mean, did government really think people don't need haircuts?? What I was saying in my post was just temporary solutions. With women, for now, just cut the ends off. Not ideal, but what else can you do? With me, I can't cut the ends off because my hair is short and I can't see it, especially on the back of my head.

So I agree... barbers and salons, please open up ASAP!!

You really only have to wear the masks when you enter a store, which are usually air conditioned in hot weather.

The thing is, when it gets hot here in NY, it can be disgustingly humid. And humidity is a great virus killer. But we still haven't consistently gotten it yet. Maybe one or two warm days have hit us, but it's not constant.

heck, a few more haircuts from her and the device will already have paid for itself. Something you guys may want to look into unless you live alone.

I wouldn't trust that on my hair, I'm sure I'd screw up and cause bald splotches on my head.

Well Dub, as they’re not for sale, you can’t buy one of these originals - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...p#post16844182

However, except for what’s below the ears, I’m sure there are alternative caps you could get to remedy a poor outcome. Before I got the clippers, I checked out some of the feedback on Amazon and there actually were several guys who successfully gave themselves haircuts with Wahl clippers. You really can’t screw up the length too badly when you attach the guards. If you’re really paranoid about it you could start out high with a #7, etc. and incrementally go step-by-step to a lower numbered guard to achieve a shorter and shorter cut.

I’ll say one thing, this whole pandemic situation has opened up a whole new knowledge base and skill set for me, e.g. learning to cook something other than an omelette, etc.

Restaurants: Some really great shoe-leather epidemiology demonstrated clearly the effect of a single asymptomatic carrier in a restaurant environment (see below). The infected person (A1) sat at a table and had dinner with 9 friends. Dinner took about 1 to 1.5 hours. During this meal, the asymptomatic carrier released low-levels of virus into the air from their breathing. Airflow (from the restaurant's various airflow vents) was from right to left. Approximately 50% of the people at the infected person's table became sick over the next 7 days. 75% of the people on the adjacent downwind table became infected. And even 2 of the 7 people on the upwind table were infected (believed to happen by turbulent airflow). No one at tables E or F became infected, they were out of the main airflow from the air conditioner on the right to the exhaust fan on the left of the room.

Not meant to be snarky, but one person's version of success is another's botch cut. I've had bad haircuts from professionals, I wouldn't trust my wife to cut my hair.

Fortunately, in KC they are allowing barber/salons to open under specific guidelines this week. I haven't had a haircut in two months. I normally get my haircut every three weeks.

The only time I went longer without a cut was for 3 months in college when a new barber cut my hair. Looked at it in the mirror and thought it can't be that bad? Walked up to the Fraternity house and the first person that saw me asked why I got a punk hair cut? During the process of growing out (again it took three months-longer hair styles back then), I looked a little like eddie munster. There was an associated "dry spell" during that time as well.

never been to0 a nail and when I go to the barber I want to get out of there ASAP. But if movies and TV have it even remotely right some people do go there to socialise and mingle with others.

Other countries started Crisis near their summer and it hasn't had a noticeable affect. Cases could actually rise as people start to disregard lock-down rules.
