Hey, don't hate on Megan Fox the actress. She has the sense to post this as her very last post on Twitter in 2013:
"5 days on Twitter and I have yet to discern it's purpose. #WhatIsThePoint ???"

Whereas Megan Fox the writer is an edgelord at best.

just from what you quoted it was enough and I did not need to go read the rest of the dribble in it.

I agree that a healthy person wearing a mask is not going to keep them safe. I pointed the same thing out since the beginning and one can even see that in yesterdays post where I brought up the 5 military personal that have contracted it while they were in full PPE helping in contaminated nursing homes.

The issue is the blog is missing the obvious, no one has ever said that a mask will protect the wearer. Not before and not now. But when one says

Quote:
that only sick people should wear them
you need the other side of the coin and ask "who are the sick people?" since this disease can be asymptomatic for some and very mild for some others the answer to that question is possibly any one. Yes a century ago stopping Typhoid Mary was enough to stop the typhoid outbreaks she was causing everywhere she went, but in this case there can be hundreds and thousands and possibly millions of typhoid Marys walking around saying "I don't feel sick" when they really are and they are making others sick.

I am shocked there was an actual reason why Georgia's own numbers didn't line up with what John Hopkins and others were saying at the same time.

Gov. Brian Kemp’s office issued an apology after a Georgia Public Health Department chart wrongly reported a downward trend in coronavirus cases. The error was at least the third in as many weeks. https://www.ajc.com/news/state--regi...9XEF8vO11NVGO/

And Texas is experiencing a surge in cases at this time, a couple weeks after reopening. This experiment of declaring victory over the virus to see if it might make the virus subside is… not going well.

Scary trend for sure as we head towards summer vacation season.

You can't keep things closed until there are zero cases in the U.S.

I guess the model used to construct the U.K. lock down was flawed beyond belief.

Cases will go down during the summer. They already are.

But anyway it's all about keeping them at a manageable level, while minimizing the damage to the economy.

"Texas saw its highest single day increase in positive coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic this past Saturday, according to numbers released by Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)."

They are testing more yeah? That would lead to more positives. That's natural.

Oh wow, you picked one day from one state to prove me wrong? I was referring to the U.S. as a whole over the summer.

Good point about the testing. More confirmed cases and less unknown cases due to ever increasing testing capacity will drive up official case numbers somewhat.

But the real marker is hospital capacity that they have in reserve for a future spike. As long as they have the excess capacity, even a modest increase in cases will be acceptable. Does Texas and Georgia have that capacity and are they comfortable with it? They should be the judge of that, not outsiders.

This Corona Virus really sux!

At least I scored my first 4K smart television right at the onset of the virus. I've been streaming a lot of shows and movies but most of all I've begun to grow my collection. Watching and collecting movies gives me a sense of comfort and is an escape from the reality of this Covid-19 nightmare.

Yesterday was the first time I was able to score some toilet paper since December 2019!

I wear my mask when going out and wash my hands like mad when I return home.

I believe Texas closed some makeshift overflow hospitals so I believe they are confident in their capacity in hospitals.

It’s now against the law to not be wearing a mask in public under the governor’s new health order to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham this week acknowledged that not everyone is a fan of wearing a face mask. “We all have a social contracting responsibility to do that and I know it is not popular in a way that I wish that it was,” said the governor.

KRQE spoke with people on Saturday about the new requirement. Based on reaction, the new public health order has mixed reviews. “Where’s our freedom? We’ve had diseases before, we’ve never had to do this. You know, and now it’s like we have to do it. Are we in Russia, Cuba, or what,” said Gloria Prieto.

“I don’t think it’s a big deal, obviously some people have problem with it but for right now it’s the best we can do,” said Alex Nunnally. He owns New Mexico Bead and Fetish in Old Town. Nunnally said he’s following the governor’s orders and not letting any customers in without masks.

But KRQE saw some visitors in Old Town Saturday who weren’t wearing any type of face-covering. It was a similar story at the busy Smith’s grocery store on Yale near UNM, and at Roosevelt Park where some people on Saturday were also not social distancing.

Of course, there are exceptions to wearing a mask in public. You’re in the clear if you’re eating, drinking, or exercising.

Many people we talked to who do support the mask mandate said the temporary inconvenience of wearing one is worth helping keep New Mexicans healthy. “For right now, it’s mandatory, if you want to be in public you gotta wear it, if you don’t want to wear it stay home,” said Nunnally.

State police told KRQE they won’t be enforcing the new rule and APD said they’ll try and provide masks to people if officers have extras. The governor hopes positive peer pressure will work instead.

As a Texan, it feels so gross and creepy to read what "will be acceptable" when my actual county and surrounding areas are being warned and preparing for an increase in cases. The hospitals may be prepared for an influx, but literally myself, my neighbors and friends and family are the potential patients that are being prepped for.

Agreed.
Is this how it feels to be a Texan who wants Californians and New Yorkers to stay out of my local politics? Pretty wild.

High school seniors are already having a tough time because of the pandemic. Now, some of those seniors are being told they’re going to have to retake an exam they’ve already taken.

Nick Ortiz had written his entire essay when he tried submitting the exam, he received multiple error messages. “Then it timed out and said, ‘you did not submit your work.’ That was it, the end, just didn’t do it, out of time,” said Nicole Ortiz, Nick’s mom.

Nick has been preparing for the Advanced Placement test all year. If he passes he will receive English college credit at New Mexico State when he attends in the Fall. But now, he’s being told he’s going to have to retake it since it wasn’t submitted on time.

“They said it’s a browser issue, your technology is not up to date. You need to make sure you’re on the right browser, otherwise it’s not going to work,” said Nicole Ortiz.

Typically, the test is taken in person but because of the pandemic, it was administered online. That little change is causing big problems for a lot of seniors. Parents are taking to the College Board’s Facebook, to complain about similar issues with their students’ tests.

Ortiz says her son’s essay is saved on their computer, with a timestamp proving it was done on time. She hopes the college board will reconsider their decision to make all the students retake it. “Nobody’s asking for special favors, just acknowledge that these kids did the work, and take their work,” said Ortiz.

We tried reaching out to the College Board but received an automated message saying their offices are closed because of the pandemic. Ortiz filed a complaint with the board on Wednesday but has not heard back.

As someone who was pretty much done since April 24th, I am bemused.
