None of those scenarios pertain to me. Unless I'm getting a paper check, but I have no way of knowing.

A neighbor of mine said the they didn't have a bank account # on file for him, and that he just got the paper stimulus check the other day. He had not gone online to the IRS site to do anything about the check, afaik.

422k tests on Sunday, positive tests fell to 5%, and deaths are the lowest since March.

With retail businesses now allowed to open up to customers at 25% capacity, the staff at an Old Town Albuquerque restaurant said they’re left wondering when it’s their turn to let customers dine in. Employees at Church Street Cafe told KRQE News 13 they were surprised that dine-in service wasn’t included in the governor’s latest phase of slowly reopening the state.

They said their business is down 90% from this time last year and they laid off about 30 of their 40 employees when the governor enacted the stay-at-home order back in March. Karla Sandoval, general manager of the restaurant said she’s frustrated retail businesses can open up at a limited capacity, but restaurants can’t.

“I think if it’s okay for retail, it should also be okay for us,” said Sandoval. “What’s the difference people are still going to mingle together. We will keep it down to four people or six per table. We’ll keep our distance, so if they can do it why can’t we.”

Of course, restaurants throughout the state have been allowed to offer take out, curbside pick up and delivery for nearly two months. The governor said in a press conference on Wednesday that the next phase of reopening the state could include limited dine-in service malls, salons, and gyms.

But Carol Wight, CEO of the New Mexico Restaurant Association said six percent of restaurants have already closed permanently and that number could grow soon. “We got to get them open so we don’t have a disaster on our hands,” said Wight.

The governor says the next phase of reopening in early June could include limited dine-in service, depending on how many New Mexicans do over the next few weeks with the current lift on restrictions.

Good, people need to get healthy again. One of the biggest things to come out of the stay at home orders is obesity...which we all know leads to a myriad of health problems.

The restrictions they going to have in place at these gyms, you're more likely you'll get it at a grocery store. Gyms are very important as health centers, they should open as soon as possible.

Gym equipment also can be devilishly difficult to sanitize. Dumbbells and kettle bells, for instance, “are high-touch metal, with strange shapes and many different places people can grasp,” says Dr. Deverick Anderson, a professor of medicine and director of the Duke Center for Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. His group consults with the National Football League and other sports teams about infection control. “They are not easy to clean.”

In consequence, “people are going to have to understand and accept that there will be some risk” of virus transmission, if and when they revisit their gyms, Dr. Anderson says.

But appropriate distancing during indoor aerobic exercise remains problematic, says Bert Blocken, a professor of civil engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands and KU Leuven in Belgium. Dr. Blocken, who studies airflow in buildings and around bodies, says exercisers breathe heavily and produce many respiratory droplets, and with no wind or forward momentum to shift and disperse these droplets, they could linger and drop inside the facility.

“Therefore,” he says, “it is very important to have a well-ventilated gym,” preferably using a system that constantly refreshes inside air with filtered air from outside. If your gym does not have such a system, expect, at minimum, “peak natural ventilation” — meaning wide-open windows on opposite walls — to help move air from inside out, he says.

Yup, I'm going to be running outside and working out in the garage through at least December. Should save me about $270 so I'll take it.

Definitely, there's a reason why some healthcare providers reimburse you for your gym membership...in the long run it will save them money.

Wife and I are well on our way towards building a home gym. It's something we've been thinking about for a while. We finally made some real progress during lockdown. Still have a lot of rearranging and prep before we bring the equipment in.

I'd be more okay with going back to gyms if people weren't so gross. Can't get through 1 session at the gym I've used since 2016 without at least 1 person flitting from machine to machine without wiping anything down.

Plus as they've said, there's equipment with the abrasive metal handles, people wipe them down but how clean do they really get? Gyms are just not sanitary enough to justify a widespread re-opening, unfortunately.
